Caribou’s Dan Snaith Announces New Daphni Album Cherry, Shares “Cloudy”: Stream
Caribou mastermind Dan Snaith has announced a new studio set under his Daphni moniker. Titled Cherry, the album will be released on October 7th via Snaith’s own Jiaolong label. To celebrate the announcement, the Canadian producer also unveiled his new single “Cloudy.” “The essence of this one is keeping it aloft — like occasionally nudging a balloon that’s only just heavier than air to keep it afloat,” Snaith said about the track in a statement. “For something so buoyant, I’m surprised how much it bangs in a club.” Cherry will be available on vinyl, CD, and on streaming platforms. Depeche Mode Reveal Andy Fletcher’s Cause of Death
One month after the passing of Depeche Mode founding member and keyboardist Andy Fletcher, the band has shared the cause of death at the request of his family. “Andy suffered an aortic dissection while at home on May 26,” wrote Martin Gore and Dave Gahan in a statement. “So, even though it was far, far too soon, he passed naturally and without prolonged suffering.” The statement continued, “We had a celebration of Andy’s life in London last week, which was a beautiful ceremony and gathering with a few tears, but filled with the great memories of who Andy was, stories of all of our times together, and some good laughs. Andy was celebrated in a room full of many of his friends and family, our immediate DM family, and so many people who have touched Andy’s and our lives throughout the years. ...

Nils Frahm has a new album on the way. Music for Animals, the German composer/producer’s 14th solo album, is due out September 23rd via his own label LEITER. Today, he’s shared a preview of the record with the lead single “Right Right Right,” as well as a lengthy list of North American and European tour dates from 2022 all the way through 2024. Like much of Frahm’s work, Music for Animals is simplistic and meditative, while still feeling vast and full-bodied. III Points Festival 2022: LCD Soundsystem and Flume Join Rosalía as Headliners
III Points Music Festival will be returning to Miami’s Mana Wynwood from October 21st to 22nd, and now its previously announced 2022 headliner Rosalía will officially be joined at the top of the line by Flume, LCD Soundsystem, and more. The two-day multimedia event is hosting one of its biggest lineups yet with over 150 artists across its typical six-stage setup as well as visual arts installations and on-site experiences. As usual, the festival blurs the line between genres with acts like James Blake, Black Coffee, Porter Robinson, Orbital, Joji, Chris Lake, Freddie Gibbs, Kenny Beats, Pink Siifu, Shygirl, and Fisher all making appearances. Ryuichi Sakamoto Reveals He Has Stage 4 Cancer
Ryuichi Sakamoto is currently battling stage 4 cancer, the Japanese musician revealed in an essay published Tuesday. Sakamoto, 70, was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 and rectal cancer in 2021, but had previously offered few details about either cancers’ severity. Writing for the Japanese literary magazine Shincho (via Japan Times) this week, the legendary composer, pianist, and Yellow Magic Orchestra member revealed that he underwent surgery last October and December to remove cancer that had spread to both lungs. Stage 4 typically indicates that a patient’s prognosis is poor. Los Angeles-based violinist and singer Sudan Archives has mapped out her headlining “Homecoming Tour” across North America for Fall 2022.
