With so many new songs released in 2021, it’s difficult to remember all of them, let alone keep track of each one. So we made a playlist with as much dance music as we could find.  At the beginning of 2021, I set out to make a single playlist to house as much of the electronic dance music released in the year as I could. Electronic Music Pulls the Strings of The Weeknd’s “Dawn FM” Album—With Production From Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia

After the release of his hotly anticipated Dawn FM album, it’s clear The Weeknd‘s penchant for dance music is more voracious than ever. The Weeknd has long championed electronic dance music, collaborating with the likes of Gesaffelstein, Daft Punk, and Disclosure, among others. However, Dawn FM twists the knife into this curiosity by presenting the most dance-forward album of his career. And it’s also his most creative yet. The album plays out like a radio station during a late-night drive in the 80s, featuring sultry interludes from Jim Carrey and Quincy Jones. But despite its escapist narrative and lovelorn motifs, at its core, the phantasmagoric Dawn FM was designed for dance parties. The proof is in the pudding. The Weeknd joined forces with disco-pop extraordina...

21 Stories That Defined EDM In 2021

2021 was yet another year that tested the strength of the electronic dance music community. Event organizers and ravers had to settle into a new norm this year, adapting to mercurial COVID-19 health guidelines in the name of public safety. And even though it was marginally better than the dystopian lockdowns of 2020, it wasn’t easy. But after all was said and done, it became more clear than ever that the virus can try to take the rave out of the person, but it cannot take the person out of the rave. Even in a vexing year for the electronic music scene, it remained as captivating as ever. Here are 21 stories that defined EDM in 2021.  Return of Swedish House Mafia After a nine-year hiatus and countless cryptic teases, legendary dance music trio Swedish Ho...

Get ready for the best years in electronic music history, says David Guetta. “I think the next few years will be the best years for dance music in history,” declared the DJ and chart-topping producer in a recent interview with the Evening Standard.
