QUIX and Vincent’s TIGER DROOL Drop Ferocious “Saber Tooth” Remix Pack: Listen

Back in summer 2020 bass music stars QUIX and Vincent joined forces for a collaborative side project called TIGER DROOL, debuting with the brass-heavy trap tune “TIGER” before following up with their sophomore single, “SABER TOOTH.” They’ve now unveiled a vicious 5-track remix EP, which arrived today by way of Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats imprint. Featuring five ferocious remixes, the EP foams at the mouth with blistering sound design. QUIX kicks off the record with a typically wonky take, offering three different unique drops like the versatile beatsmith he is. Orange County-based producer Pax Impera follows with a squelchy trap rework before Jinx follows suit with her own frenetic bass rendition. Los Angeles young gun Gawm wins the loudness war...

Getter Teases Multiple New EP Releases

October 2020 saw the return of bass music innovator Getter, who dropped his stunning six-track EP NAPALM. Since then, he has been riding aboard the ever-popular NFT hype train, releasing multiple tokens in collaboration with visual artist Dax Norman. The producer has also been teasing a new EP, but on his birthday, April 14th, he took to Twitter to reveal that there may be more than one record on the way.  Expressing his gratitude for fans’ birthday wishes in the tweet, Getter also promised multiple new EPs on the way soon. He previously already revealed his excitement for the first of the EPs, claiming that it will “blow NAPALM out of the water.” In a later tweet, he built the anticipation even further: It appears that Getter will be continuing t...

Influential dubstep duo Dodge & Fuski have released “The Greatest Dubstep Samples Of All Time,” a brand new Splice pack for electronic music producers. The duo’s longtime label, Disciple, dubbed the pack “perfect for the intermediate level dubstep producer who is looking to take their production game to the next level.” The expansive bundle offers up tons of high-quality samples that can only come from the trailblazing minds of Dodge & Fuski, like metallic wobbles, screeching bass patches, and punchy classic dubstep snares. The Splice pack also features 41 spoken word samples, which are refreshing changes of pace from the trite, overused pre-drop vocals of yesteryear. Instead of opting for a cringey “1, 2, 3, jump” sample, pr...

The album will be MUST DIE!’s first in over six years following his seminal debut, 2014’s Death & Magic. That record featured a number of tracks that are considered to be highly influential in the electronic music scene, such as the house hybrid “Hellcat” and dubstep banger “Gem Shards,” the latter of which Skrillex famously rinsed in countless live DJ sets. In March, MUST DIE! announced that he has a collaboration in the works with electronic music legend Skream and young gun Akeos. We’re unable to confirm whether or not the unreleased track will appear on CRISIS VISION, but fans can certainly hold out hope considering the magnitude of...

Slushii Drops Dubstep Remix of “My War” from Anime Series Attack on Titan

Slushii has paid tribute to one of the biggest anime shows out there with a new dubstep remix of Attack on Titan‘s current theme song. Originally recorded by the Japanese rock group Shinsei Kamattechan, “My War” took over as the theme of the show on the premiere of its fourth and final season late last year. Leaving the iconic, catchy vocals from the beginning of the original largely intact, Slushii, an overt anime and manga fan, eases listeners into the rework. After introducing some vocal samples from the show, he unleashes chaotic, choppy bass at a scale as epic as the battles depicted in the series. Fans of both the show and the producer took to social media in droves to share their admiration for the remix, which was created and released in just one day. You can...

Trampa Returns With Massive Riddim Offering, “Sick Head” on Never Say Die [Premiere]

Since the pandemic began, Never Say Die: Black Label heavyweight Trampa had been relatively quiet. That was, until he came back swinging with a massive new single called “Your Luv,” which was well-received by fans and fellow artists alike.  Since “Your Luv” was released last month, Trampa promised that even more new music was on the way. He has now delivered on that promise with his next NSD release, a ferocious riddim banger titled “Sick Head,” premiered exclusively on EDM.com. The new single is a take-no-prisoners approach to riddim, with a trappy, hip-hop-influenced intro highlighted by downpitched vocal samples and driving percussive elements. Tension builds at the breakdown as reverberated synths hint at what’s to come, but the listener will still be unprepared ...

Dion Timmer’s “Arcane” EP is a Masterclass in Bass Music Production

Dion Timmer has arrived with his highly anticipated Arcane EP, a 7-track stunner that arrives via Excision‘s Subsidia Records banner. Arcane is nothing short of breathtaking. Timmer effortlessly weaves through the darkest netherworlds of bass music, interpolating elements of drum & bass, dubstep, and even midtempo. Original musicality gushes through each of the record’s seven tracks like a broken dam, each one rife with an electrifying blend of meticulously crafted melodies and roaring bass patches. Arcane features joint tracks with Lucii, G-REX and Armanni Reign, Azuria Sky, Teddy Killerz, and Excision and Monika Santucci. The latter collaboration is something to marvel at. An Excision song at 102 BPM is completely out of left-field, but considering the forward-thinki...

It’s the end of an era after famed dubstep imprint Never Say Die: Black Label announced that it is shutting down indefinitely. In a statement shared via social media, the team behind the Never Say Die Records sub-label said that they have been “prompted to rethink” how they release music due to it “being blurred to staggering new levels.” In order to move forward with a more cohesive brand, all future releases will now appear under the single umbrella of its parent label. “One of the only positives we can take from the pandemic is that huge strides have been made in genre fluidity, with producers continuing to push the boundaries and keep the bass scene moving,” the statement reads. “As a result, we increasingly find that some ...

Vaultage 003 is chock-full of enticing and all-original bass sounds, ranging from experimental to bass house, dubstep and beyond in the new 20-minute mix. “Bird Alert,” the track featured in the Twitter teaser, sits right in the middle of pipi...

The reveal lit a fuse in the tweet’s reply section, which erupted with glee from many of the artists’ contemporaries. The unreleased track will find one of the most iconic producers in dubstep colliding with two of the genre’s most forward-thinking young artists of today. Skream, MUST DIE!, and Akeos are technically pristine in both their sound design and audio engineering, a notion that should both excite and terrify the bass music community. Considering the versatility and genre-defiance...
