Chase & Status to Appear on Massive Metallica Cover Album

Legendary electronic music tandem Chase & Status have revealed a new remix for Metallica, who recently announced a special compilation covering songs from their seminal 1991 self-titled album. Chase & Status revealed that the metal icons reached out to them and gave them a choice of which track to rework from the LP, better known as The Black Album, to celebrate its 30th anniversary. They chose the raucous “Wherever I May Roam” and tapped drill-grime rapper Backroad Gee to contribute vocals. The duo’s remix will drop on September 10th as part of The Metallica Blacklist, which will also be accompanied by a special reissue of The Black Album. All proceeds from the initiative will be directed to Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation, wh...

Listen to Pendulum’s “Elemental” EP, Their First Body of Work in Over a Decade

For the past year, Pendulum have been slowly releasing the singles that make up their Elemental EP. Now, the final piece has been added to the Elemental puzzle.  The fourth and final song included on the new EP is none other than their long-awaited collaboration with Hybrid Minds, “Louder Than Words.” The track was actually debuted all the way back in October when they performed at the picturesque Spitbank Fort in the English Channel. Months after that, they would release the third single “Come Alive,” and eventually the EP we see today. Listen to the Rollercoaster Ride That is AIRGLO and dela Moon’s “Chain-Melted State”

Fresh off of his mammoth collaboration “Freak Show” with MC Dino and Wraith, AIRGLO has made a quick return with another joint track on Play Me Records. This time around he’s teamed up with Muti Music and Street Ritual’s dela Moon for a single that will take listeners on a journey through sound and tempo. Bouncing back and forth from drum & bass and acid techno, “Chain-Melted State” is truly the best of both worlds. The track employs a sinister bassline and buildup that lead to a wild drum & bass drop at high tempo, before the first breakdown shifts the track downward in tempo to refresh the melody.  In its midsection “Chain-Melted State” evokes the true spirit of acid techno, retaining the eerie bassline while introducing a driv...

Livestreamed DJ sets have gained massive popularity since music fans across the world found themselves in lockdown due to COVID-19. Eight weeks ago, Whiting launched the first installment of “Drum & Bass On The Bike,” and yes—it’s exactly what it sounds like. Whiting has rigged a Pioneer DJ mixer onto his bicycle and has been riding around UK cities while performing DJ sets. The series of cleverly executed and overall impressive streams began in Marlow on March 21st, when Whiting strolled around town with drum breaks and reese basses echoing around him as he managed to make clean transitions—and not ru...

Eptic is on a tear leading up to his highly anticipated festival run this summer. After releasing “Stop Pretending” in January and “Shadow People” in February, today he has returned to Monstercat for the third time this year with “Payback.” “Payback” is unlike anything fans have heard from Eptic recently, as the Belgian producer has doubled back to drum & bass for the first time in seven years. “With this song, I want to pay homage to the jump-up style that got me into producing,” he explained in a press statement. “I have more respect than I already had for dnb producers since it was so difficult to get it right. This was one of my most-requested unreleased songs so I felt like I owed it to my fans to give it my best sh...

Hybrid Minds Release Emotive Liquid Drum & Bass Single “Bad To Me” With Grace Grundy

Grace Grundy puts forth a poignant vocal performance, as her somber tones reverberate across gloomy piano chords and airy pads. Powerful melodies and soul-stirring songwriting make “Bad To Me” a top-shelf liquid tune, in classic Hybrid Minds fashion. “We wanted the lyrics to be reflected in the mood and energy of the song and it turned out exactly as we imagined,” said the duo, speaking on the release. &#...

Kumarion Makes Surprise Monstercat Debut With Dynamic New Single, “Pure Action”

Even through a global pandemic, some artists simply didn’t slow things down.  Stateside bass act Kumarion is one such artist, and since the release of his hybrid trap hit “Want It,” through drum & bass stompers like “Enemy,” “Instinct,” and “Wanna,” he’s solidified his dominance over the stateside drum & bass community. The skilled producer’s latest combines shuffling, syncopated drum breaks with a sporadic yet controlled bassline for a track that’s true to its title. After kickstarting the Never Say Die: Black Label sister imprint with his Consciousness EP in 2015 and closing that imprint’s chapter out with his single “Sick Head,” bass music heavyweight Trampa has already built an impressive career over the last decade. Now, Trampa’s debut album has arrived on the newly reformed Never Say Die, and it is undoubtedly the producer’s best work yet. Trampa’s first full-length, Disrespect, is full of the riddim-tinged sounds listeners have come to know and love from the musician, but the album expands far beyond genre expectations and into tracks that draw influence from jungle, drum & bass, UK garage, drill, and even breakbeat.  Previously released singles “Sick Head,” “Your Luv,” and the ...

Stateside drum & bass grows stronger by the minute, and now Los Angeles-based producer Wraith has stepped back into the fold after a five year hiatus. The skilled producer’s return release comes in the form of a whopping collaboration with fellow LA compatriots Airglo and MC Dino, entitled “Freak Show.” A dancefloor banger through and through, “Freak Show” layers MC Dino’s hip-hop sentiments over panic-inducing breakdown sections as the tension builds. At the drop, it’s all-out chaos as Airglo and Wraith’s crushing reese basses and powerful drums pull no punches in the main section. Dino drops a fiery second verse at the halfway point, even further elevating the “Freak Show” even further as the track moves into its evolved sec...
