Staind frontman Aaron Lewis and Godsmack singer Sully Erna are joining forces for a tour of drive-in venues across the United States. “The American Drive-In Tour”, as it is dubbed, will be one of the first rock excursions of its kind during the pandemic. The intimate outing will see Lewis and Erna performing side-by-side acoustically, playing their hits and cover songs, while also engaging in conversations. The tour is being produced by Danny Wimmer Presents, known for putting on some of the biggest U.S. rock festivals, including Sonic Temple, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock, among others. The month-long tour kicks off October 1st in Wichita, Kansas, and runs through a November 1st show in Del Mar, California. Garth Brooks has announced a one-off concert event which will be simulcast at 300 drive-in movie theaters across North America on June 27th. Tickets are priced at $100 per car and go on sale beginning Friday, June 19th at 12:00 p.m. ET via Ticketmaster. With the pandemic limiting social interactions, the concept of the drive-in is making a comeback. New York state recently reopened its drive-in movie theaters, but New York City will be taking things to the next level come summer. As Time Out New York reports, the Yankee Stadium parking lot will be turned into a weekend carnival experience dubbed Uptown Drive-In. Beginning in July, the iconic baseball stadium will host drive-in movies and concerts featuring local musicians every night Friday through Sunday, with a “brunch series” occurring on Saturday and Sunday. What’s more, the festivities will include carside dinner service, interactive games, and giveaways. The stage will be elevated to be seen from attendees’ cars, with sound streamed from the PA system directly to car radios. Th...
Keith Urban performs first American drive-in concert, exclusively for first responders Taking a page from those in Germany and Denmark, country music superstar Keith Urban performed one of America’s first pandemic-era drive-in concerts on Thursday. A resident of Music City, Urban played an hour-long set for a crowd comprised of more than 200 doctors, nurses, and other emergency medical employees from Vanderbilt University Medical Center. According to a press statement, there were nearly 125 parked vehicles in attendance, all safely spaced apart, and they each honked and flashed their lights throughout the show in supp...
With large-scale indoor group gatherings effectively prohibited for the foreseeable future, drive-in-style outdoor events have emerged as a popular alternative. Everyone from Live Nation to Donald Trump is planning such events, which would allow attendees to watch live entertainment while practicing social distancing from the safety of their vehicle. In fact, a few drive-in concerts have already been announced: EDM producer Marc Rebillet has set a seven-date drive-in tour, while the Texas Rangers are hosting a series of country music shows in their stadium’s parking lot. Now comes word of the “first-ever” drive-in music festival. Carnage has announced The Road Rave, which he’s calling “North America’s first-ever drive-in festival of the COVID era.” It goes down June 6th...
