Now, it is no more. Less than a month after launching From the Desk of Donald Trump with a promise to “redefine the game,” 45 has shut down his blog and moved on. After most social media platforms banned Trump following the January 6th Capitol insurrection, his aides canvassed Fox News with a sales pitch. The blog would be “the hottest ticket” in social media, according to senior adviser Jason Miller, drawing “tens of m...
Russia on Friday called a U.S. decision to not rejoin the Open Skies arms control pact, which allows unarmed surveillance flights over member countries, a political mistake that strikes a sour note ahead of a summit, Russian news agencies reported. The United States told Russia on Thursday it would not rejoin the pact, which Washington left in November, accusing Russia of violating it, something Moscow denied. The original decision to quit the pact was taken by the administration of then U.S. president Donald Trump and Moscow had hoped that Joe Biden would reverse that decision. Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s deputy foreign minister, was quoted by the RIA news agency on Friday as saying that Moscow was disappointed but not entirely surprised by Biden’s decision. “It certainly does not make us ha...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-26T16:50:43+00:00“>May 26, 2021 | 12:50pm ET Jeff Bezos finds himself in possession of possible blackmail material on disgraced former US President Donald Trump, should he choose to use it. On Tuesday, Amazon acquired the rights to The Apprentice and the fabled racist Trump tapes that come with it in a massive $8.45 billion deal with MGM. Back in October 2016, Emmy-winning producer Chris Nee alleged Apprentice producers were sitting on footage that includes film of Trump using the n-word. The claim came after a video surfaced of Trump making a series of lewd comments about women during a 2005 conversation with Access Hollywood host Billy Bush. Nee made the comments in response to...
A US federal investigation has been launched into policing practices in the city of Minneapolis, a day after one of its former officers was convicted of the murder of George Floyd. The justice department will look at whether there has been a pattern “of unconstitutional or unlawful policing”, Attorney General Merrick Garland said. It follows national outrage over the killing of Floyd by Derek Chauvin. The former officer was convicted of all charges against him on Tuesday. Chauvin was filmed kneeling on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes during an arrest in May 2020. Floyd, an unarmed African American, was pronounced dead an hour later. His death sparked protests across the US and worldwide, and calls for police reform. Tuesday’s verdict has been widely welcomed in a country where poli...
