“Tonight is not about me. It’s about you,” a deep voice said at the start of Baauer‘s recent DJ set in Atlanta. “Strap on your dancing slippers, sweet cheeks. It’s going down.” The Grammy-nominated DJ and producer recently threw down at a secret warehouse rave hosted by DEF, a woman-owned media collective and event organizer. DEF’s goal is to provide safe spaces for fans to create “unforgettable memories,” hosting unique warehouse parties and recording DJ sets in striking 4K. DEF TV was named EDM.com‘s best YouTube channel of the year in our “Best of 2022: Industry Leaders” list. Baauer moved between genres with ease, effortlessly flowing between high-energy bangers and sultry club records. He took the crowd on a journey that had ...

Four Tet recently performed a riveting, three-hour DJ set from Fort Mifflin, a historic war fort. Fort Mifflin was built in 1771 on the Delaware River. The site predates the Declaration of Independence and has been crucial in every war the United States has fought since the Revolution, according to the Pennsylvania Center for the Book. It all went down in Philadelphia at the inaugural Making Time Festival, which also featured performances from Bicep, LSDXOXO and TSHA, among others. But it was Four Tet who stole the show. The renowned DJ and producer has always pushed the boundaries of the intersection of music and performance, so his Fort Mifflin set seemed right on brand. Four Tet dropped a barrage of nostalgic tracks, like Shakira’s “She WolfR...
San Holo‘s latest performance was different on so many levels. The beloved guitarist and dance music producer recently lifted spirits in an elevator, DJing at a miniature rave for one of the more exclusive crowds we’ve seen. It all went down (sorry, can’t help these puns) in Los Angeles over the weekend. The performance was organized by esteemed electronic music event organizer Brownies & Lemonade. It was the latest in their “B&L Pop Up Series,” which places artists in unconventional locations for impromptu DJ sets. Other pie-in-the-sky performances include one from Whethan at an abandoned zoo and another from Moore Kismet in a train yard. Holo rinsed a bevy of his hits in the elevator, like the ageless future bass banger “Light.” B&L s...

Since his return to the stage, Hardwell hasn’t hesitated to be selective when it comes to his touring schedule. Case in point, his outing in Ibiza was his first and only of this year. “You have to take the crowd on a journey,” Hardwell told EDM.com in an intimate interview days ahead of the performance. “That’s what Ibiza’s all about. If you blinked and missed it, Hardwell’s full DJ set from Ushuaïa, one of the world’s foremost clubbing destinations, is up now on YouTube. He made the most of the night, giving the audience a masterclass in mainstage techno. Dance music superstar KSHMR has released the full recording of his recent DJ set in Kashmir, a performance he called “a truly special moment” in his career. Heading out to the middle of a lake with the ravishing landscape of Kashmir in the background, KSHMR made a statement. During the hourlong set, aptly titled “KSHMR in Kashmir,” a mixture of fluid synths, indulgent percussion and blissful Indian melodies and textures are weaved throughout.
