Florida Votes to Punish Disney for Opposition to “Don’t Say Gay” Bill

Florida Republicans are retaliating against The Walt Disney Company for its opposition to the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by passing a new law repealing Disney World’s special district status. As reported by Deadline and The New York Times, the land surrounding Disney World has been covered by the Reedy Creek Improvement District since 1967. It allows Disney to administer its own emergency services while gaining extra control over land use and environmental issues. It’s a very business-friendly arrangement, enacted for the sole purpose of enticing the House of Mouse to build a theme park, which it finally did in 1971. That special arrangement is set to end June 1st of 2023. The Florida Senate voted to eliminate the District on Wednesday, and the House followed suit today. Gove...

Pixar’s Lightyear Restores Same-Sex Kiss After Staff Revolt over Support of ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill

Billie Eilish and FINNEAS Share “1 True Love” from Pixar’s Turning Red Soundtrack: Stream

Billie Eilish and her brother/musical partner in crime FINNEAS have shared the track “1 True Love” today, one of their multiple contributions to Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red. The new movie — whose protagonist is a 13-year-old girl named Mei who can transform into a giant red panda — features a fictional boyband called 4*Town, and the real-life pop duo were tasked with writing all of the group’s songs for the soundtrack. Like the previously-shared “Nobody Like U,” “1 True Love” puts FINNEAS’ vocals at the forefront. But while the former song is a tried-and-true pop banger, this one takes things down a notch, resorting to a more balladic R&B-inspired sound. The track begins with a melodramatic piano riff that later explodes into a stadium-sized breakdown about halfway through. “Yo...
