With His Final Dodger Stadium Show, Elton John Wrote His Own Happy Ending: Review

Something I never expected to see in Dodger Stadium during Elton John’s last live concert in North America — a peek at his belly. But due to the poor fit of the icon’s first wardrobe choice (a sequined tuxedo jacket with tails, and pants that needed adjusting every time he stood up to acknowledge the crowd), at a certain point a bit of pink skin became visible through a gap in his button-down shirt. This tiny wardrobe malfunction was the only notable misstep during an intense marathon of music seeped in legacy, and it proved to be charming, in a way — a moment of human fallibility that felt all too relatable. Especially because this semi-final stop on the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour” was otherwise transcendent, an invitation into the passion Elton John has for his work...

Princess Diaries 3 in the Works at Disney

Get ready to return to Genovia, because The Princess Diaries 3 is in the works at Disney. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel is being written by Aadrita Mukerji (Supergirl, Scorpion, Reacher) and is, in fact, a sequel, not a reboot, meaning it will continue the story established by 2001’s The Princess Diaries and 2004’s The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.  Anne Hathaway, who starred in both films as Princess Mia Thermopolis, does not yet  have a deal to return for the sequel, but she’s long said she’d be down for a third movie, so here’s hoping she joins the cast if the film moves forward. The same goes for Julie Andrews, who played Mia’s grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi. Related Video The Princess Diaries is based on Meg Cabot’...

Disney’s Live-Action Hercules Is “Experimental” Musical for Audiences “Trained by TikTok,” Says Joe Russo

Disney’s live-action Hercules remake will be a “more experimental” musical for audiences “trained by TikTok,” producer Joe Russo told Variety.  He and his brother Anthony Russo are producing with Disney through their independent studio AGBO. “I think they’re excited to see what we can all bring to it in a way that isn’t just a reinterpretation of the animated film,” Joe said, explaining that the new Hercules would be “a little bit more experimental in tone, a little bit more experimental in execution.” The 1997 animated Hercules featured now-iconic song and dance numbers such as the Oscar-nominated “Go the Distance.” Russo said, “There are questions about how you translate it as a musical. Audiences today have been trained by TikTok, r...

Tim Burton Says His “Days with Disney are Done” Following “Horrible” Dumbo Experience

Tim Burton has grounded any potential future projects with Disney following his “horrible” experience directing the 2019 live-action reboot of Dumbo for the House of Mouse. According to Deadline, Burton shared his displeasure with Disney on Saturday during a press conference at the Lumière Film Festival in Lyon, France, where the director was being was honored with the annual event’s prestigious Prix Lumière award. He critiqued the studio’s narrowing focus on franchises like Star Wars and Marvel and rejected the idea of helming an installment in the latter’s cinematic universe, before saying, “It’s gotten to be very homogenized, very consolidated. There’s less room for different types of things.” Burton’s feedback holds some weight considering the director launched his filmmaking career as...

Marvel Unveils Secret Invasion Trailer Starring Samuel L. Jackson, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Coleman: Watch

Trust no one. Marvel unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion during its annual D23 event this weekend. Watch it below. The seeds of Secret Invasion have been planted since Spider-Man: Far From Home back in 2019. In that film’s post-credits scene (spoiler) it was revealed that the Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) we’d seen throughout the movie were actually shape-shifting Skrulls (with Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos from Captain Marvel taking the place of Fury). It turned out that the real S.H.I.E.L.D. head was up in space aboard a Skrull ship on a secret mission. That mission, it turns out, was monitoring a… well, a Secret Invasion. Based on the popular Marvel Comics storyline of the same name, Secret Invasion...
