If you thought nearly three hours of Baz Luhrmann’s Australia was a lot, prepare to be buggered: Hulu and Disney+ are set to release an expanded and reimagined cut of the 2008 period drama, split up into a six-part limited series called Faraway Downs. Love them or hate them, remakes, reboots, and revivals are having a moment in Hollywood and on streaming. Disney+ might be cashing in next with a sequel to 1992’s Encino Man, according to one of the film’s stars, Pauly Shore. Speaking in an oral history of the film with Inverse, the actor added that if his co-stars Brendan Fraser and Sean Astin were on board, he might be down for a remake. “I know Disney+ is talking about possibly doing the sequel,” Shore said. “If they want me to do it and the script was right and Brendan and Sean were on board and it made sense, I would do it for the fans! While neither Marvel nor the House of Mouse’s streaming service have yet to make any kind of official announcement, Variety is reporting that Matt Corman and Chris Ord — best known for co-creating USA spy drama Covert Affairs — have signed on to write and executive produce the forthcoming show. The news comes on the heels of two main characters from the Netflix Daredevil show entering the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe world in recent months.
