Dior‘s ready-to-wear collections by Maria Grazia Chiuri are one of the highlights of fashion month. Every season, the designer is able to tap into the dreams and desires of young women, and translate that into a decadent presentation of fashion and design. For autumn/winter 2021, Dior explored the fashion fantasies that are keeping us entertained until we can have real world adventures once again. For Chiuri, the act of dressing up means we can be anyone and anywhere — including mermaids in the deep blue sea, Bridgerton-inspired debutantes charming a duke at a ball, or cottagecore cuties foraging in a local mushroom patch. Dior’s autumn/winter 2021 collection is sure to be a visual and sartorial sensation that will be streaming live on Monday, 8 March. Until the new collection ...
The mystery and magic of the tarot inspired Dior‘s spring/summer 2021 haute couture collection. Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri was drawn to tarot cards as a way to access the magic realm, explore the unknown, and reconnect with the soul of the world. The complete collection, titled “Le Château du Tarot” or “The Tarot Castle,” features gowns, pearl jewellery and hair accessories, shoes, and separates inspired by characters of the Visconti-Sforza tarot deck — one of the oldest surviving tarot decks in recorded history, dating back to 15th century Milan, Italy. For spring/summer 2021, Dior continues with its signature grey organza gowns and adds bodices covered in decadent illustrations by artist Pietro Ruffo. On-trend empire-waist silhouettes (similar to ...
Kim Jones is poised to be the next king of fashion. The British designer and current artistic director of Dior Homme has been tapped by the luxury brand’s parent company LVMH as Fendi’s new womenswear artistic director. Jones succeeds Fendi’s previous creative director, the late Karl Lagerfeld, and replaces the house’s interim artistic director, Silvia Venturini Fendi, who will return her focus to accessories and menswear for the brand. Kim Jones has lead Dior’s menswear vision since 2018 and previously directed menswear at Louis Vuitton, which are both owned by LVMH. The Central Saint Martins alumnus will continue developing Dior’s menswear collections, while taking on a second role at Fendi womenswear. Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH, said in...
Tissuni, which is a French portmanteau for “united fabric,” is a collective of seamstresses from elite fashion houses like Chanel, Dior, and Saint Laurent that is committed to reducing fashion’s waste problem. Founded in March by Chanel seamstress Marie Beatrice Boyer, the movement began by supplying over 3,000 free face masks to essential workers in France. Now, Tissuni is experimenting with open-source design patterns. Boyer was inspired to launch Tissuni in the early days of lockdown in response to global shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE). French hospitals were in desperate need of cloth face coverings in an attempt to preserve critically low supplies of surgical face masks. Since launching Tissuni, the collective has expanded to over 100 members from re...
Source: Jordan Brand / Jordan Brand If you tried to cop those ridiculously coveted Air Jordan 1 Dior sneakers, the odds were against you. Reportedly, 5 million people signed up to get a pair, but only 8,000 were available. Yeah, that resale price is going to be exorbitant (at the time of this post, the last sale was for a cool $12,800 on StockX)—off an already healthy $2,200 retail price. Christian Dior Couture chairman and CEO of Pietro Beccari told WWD that 5 million people signed up for the raffle for a chance to cop either the LO (those were $2000) or HI version of the Air Jordan 1 OG DIOR that first appeared at the fashion brand’s Fall 2019 Men’s runway show in Miami. Only 8,000 were available to civilians while an additional 5,000 were given away to top Dior clients. So consider this...
Source: Jordan Brand / Dior / NIke The Dior x Air Jordan 1 collaboration is easily the most highly anticipated release of 2020 and though we still don’t know how the high-end name brand boutique will go about releasing the $2000 grails, they have revealed some new information regarding the upcoming collection. Though they haven’t made any specific announcements as to how hypebeasts will have to go about, they have said that the release of the Jordans will “take the form of an exclusive online experience” and the release itself set to go down on July 8th. While we’re almost sure it’ll be an online raffle, rumors have swirled that VIP customers will get first dibs on purchasing the grails because duh. Unfortunately these will be an extremely limited run as the sneakers themselves will only s...
