Atletico Madrid decide on Lyon striker as Diego Costa replacement

Atletico Madrid have decided to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as their replacement for Diego Costa, report Deportes Cuatro. Costa terminated his contract at Atleti at the end of last month so the club have been compiling data on his potential replacement with his wages now freed up in the squad. Striker Luis Suarez is now the main frontman at the club but with Alvaro Morata having also left over summer, there is a dearth of attacking options in the squad. His salary was an estimated €300k per week, he has a concerning injury record, and has missed several games in his career through suspension. But, if he can get back to his best, then he should ...

Diego Simeone hails Yannick Carrasco’s impact in Barcelona draw

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has singled out midfielder Yannick Carrasco for praise, following their 2-2 La Liga draw at Barcelona. He won a 14th minute penalty following a foul by Arturo Vidal, with Saul Niguez converting, after a retake was ordered following Diego Costa’s miss. The former AS Monaco star continued to pose a threat after the break, winning a second spot kick just after the hour mark, and Simeone was impressed at full time. “Carrasco did a good job tonight. He has found it difficult since coming back, and he put in a huge effort here,” he told a post match interview with Marca. “He played a decisive role tonight. Agai...
