Detroit’s legendary Movement festival is officially back. Detroit Cobras Singer Rachel Nagy Has Died

Rachel Nagy, the force-of-nature singer and founding member of The Detroit Cobras, the Michigan garage rock outfit, has died. Bandmate Greg Cartwright broke the sad news on Saturday (Jan. 17) via Detroit Cobras’ social channels. “It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved friend and musical colleague, Rachel Lee Nagy,” he writes. “There are no words to fully articulate our grief as we remember a life cut short, still vital and inspirational to all who knew and loved her.” No cause of death was given. Movement Detroit Announces Free “Micro” Festival for Memorial Day Weekend 2021

While the techno community is still reeling from the late February announcement of Movement‘s cancellation, the show isn’t over quite yet.  Paxahau Presents recently provided an update to fans revealing that Movement isn’t completely awash in 2021, but it will instead be operating on a “micro” scale. Taking place during Memorial Day Weekend, Micro Movement will see performers taking to three Detroit venues: TV Lounge, Magic Stick, and Spot Lite. A lineup has not yet been revealed.  In the spirit of Movement, the music will be bumping from day to night and will feature showcases fleshed out with all Detroit talent. Dilla’s Delights Doughnut Shop Closed In Detroit

According to the Detroit Metro Times, the establishment has closed permanently at its location at 242 John R Road. The announcement was first made by Dilla’s uncle Herman Hayes aka “Uncle Herm” via Instagram on Monday, Jan. 11. “It’s official that the Doughnut Shop is closed in that location,” said Uncle Herm. “We don’t quite no which direction we’re going to in and where we’re going to be but we’re working on some things.
