Bayelsa government wades into communal crisis, warns against gunrunning
The Bayelsa State Government has read the riot act to those engaged in gunrunning in the state and warned such persons to desist from the unwholesome activity or they would face the full wrath of the law. Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo gave the warning while addressing the chiefs and people of Peretoru community in the Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state during a resumed meeting in the Government House, Yenagoa, on Saturday. Official: Nigerian government to establish central database for forfeited assets
The Federal Government’s inter-ministerial committee on assets disposal said Tuesday that it would create a central database of assets for finally forfeited assets. The chairman of the committee, Dayo Apata, said this during a courtesy visit of the committee to the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja. Mr Apata, who is the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, said: “the committee will create a central database of assets that had been forfeited to the Federal Government to ensure the Federal Government gets value for all the forfeited assets”. “Introducing uniform process of assets disposal, and avoiding wastages, so that the Federal Government can have the full benefit of what has been forfeited,” a statem...
Governor Masari: Katsina won’t negotiate with bandits
Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State on Wednesday reiterated his charge on the security agencies to be ruthless with bandits terrorizing the state as well as neighbouring Kaduna and Zamfara States. He made the declaration when heads of security agencies in Katsina brought two repentant bandit commanders from Illela village in Safana Local Government Area. YouTube Ibrahim Magu has been suspended as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This comes a day after he was arrested and detained by officers of the Department of State Security (DSS) in Abuja. Music producer Don Jazzy and singer Tiwa Savage have been cautioned against making social media comments against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, after an invitation by the Department of State Security, DSS. Tiwa Savage earned the invitation after she ran a campaign, ‘WeAreTired’, in reaction to a rise in cases of rape in the country.
