Blessings are tough enough to count in the age of COVID-19, but if you’re a Desert Hearts fan in Denver last weekend, that’s probably why you went to Church. In their first Denver show in almost two years, the Church Nightclub hosted Mikey Lion, Marbs, Lee Reynolds, and Porky for a triumphant collaborative performance. Through the stained glass portraits and glittering lights beneath the steeple, a five-hour barrage of house music bliss enraptured the sold-out crowd. A true blessing to music fans—especially given the impact of the pandemic—the event almost didn’t happen because despite being vaccinated in the weeks approaching the show, one of the crew, Marbs, contracted the virus. That meant everyone to get tested—and fast. Mikey Lion and Lee Reynolds throwing down behind the decks a...
This past weekend Global Dance Festival reemerged in Colorado in spectacular fashion. It was a magical weekend full of energy, impeccable production, and fans who were clearly ready to dance. Based in the progressive arts hub of Denver, Colorado, the two-day festival took place on July 23rd and 24th, hosting tens of thousands of fans, four stages, over 57 performers, art installations, and more. As people from all over the country arrived in Denver, Global Dance kicked the weekend off with a stellar array of pre-parties, including a massive one at Temple Nightclub headlined by SNBRN, who threw down while flanked by the venue’s stupefying LED panels that stretch up a near 100-foot wall. Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado has hosted thousands of iconic bands and musicians for more than 80 years. It’s no secret that the venue remains one of the most beloved in the world, but after its proprietors introduced new headphone technology—which allows attendees to live music delivered directly from the soundboard—Red Rocks received an overwhelming amount of backlash. Fans were not happy with the prospect of potentially needing headphones to hear the music when attending a concert in some of the amphitheatre’s upper rows. This led many to believe that the sound ordinances for the venue had changed, due to complaints from nearby residents. Following the launch of a fan-led petition to eradicate sound limitations, the City of Denver has ...

Funk-house duo The Sponges made their Colorado debut over the weekend at Denver, Colorado’s Your Mom’s House. In compliance with state regulations, the intimate downtown venue lit up over the weekend with a four-show series from the Miami-based duo. After setting off the two-night run with Butl3r and Deezy on Friday, and a Saturday early show with VC, The Sponges ensured Saturday’s sold-out late-night show would go out with a bang. Denver-based duo Forrest Pump kicked off the night at 10:30PM heating up the tripped-out, infinity-mirrored dancefloor with their midtempo house beats. The duo worked off each other’s energy as remixes of nearly every genre saw its turn throughout the hour and a half set. Daily Bread’s “Moreland Ave Blues” saw a more bass-heavy rendition, while Daft P...
