Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini, yesterday, engaged in verbal war as the APC alleged that Governor Godwin Obaseki has engaged the REC to manipulate the September 19 governorship election. Delta to cut political appointees, workers’ salaries effective from July

IGP launches N450 million NDDC coronavirus medical equipment

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has unveiled the N450 million COVID-19 pandemic medical equipment donated by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, for the protection of men of the Nigeria Police Force in the Niger Delta region. Delta SSG discharged from isolation centre

The Delta State Government has announced that Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chiedu Ebie, has been discharged from the isolation centre in Asaba where he was being treated for COVID-19. According to Olisa Ifeajika, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebie, who had been at the isolation centre for 21 days, was discharged on Sunday after testing negative for the virus. He said that the SSG’s discharge brought the number of discharged cases of the virus so far in the state to 583. Ifeajika added that as at Sunday, Delta had recorded 1,359 confirmed cases of the pandemic, with 745 of them active, while 31 lives had been lost to the virus. President Buhari authorises N19.67 billion for completion of East-West road

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate release of N19.67 billion to ramp up efforts in completing sections I-IV of the East-West Road project by 2021. The presidential directive was part of efforts to address infrastructure deficit in the Niger Delta region and boost its economy. Medical doctors in Delta have declared a two-day warning strike to protest the kidnap of a Principal Medical Officer Dr. Wisdom Iboyitete, who was kidnapped at the General Hospital, Ojobo, in Burutu Local Government Area of the state on Monday. Delta doctor abducted by gunmen in government hospital

Gunmen have abducted a resident doctor identified simply as Dr. Wisdom Iboyitete at Central Hospital, Ojobo in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. It was learnt that the hoodlums disguised as patients during the attack. The incident it was gathered occurred on Sunday night at 11:30 pm.
