Mother, two children burnt to death in Bauchi
A mother and her two children have been burnt to death in a fire disaster that occurred in Riban Garmu village, Dewu Ward in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Four others also sustained varying degrees of injuries. An eyewitness who refused to give his name said that the fire was suspected to be as a result of an electrical fault in the house which burnt it down. He said, “We suspect that there was a spark in the night while people were asleep and that might have caused the fire which burnt the four-bedroom house completely. “Four people sustained injuries and they were admitted at the Kirfi General Hospital where they are receiving treatment,” he said. FRSC: Bauchi road accident claims 21 lives of 22 passengers
Mr Yusuf Abdullahi, the Bauchi state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has said that 21 out of the 22 passengers involved in a road accident in Bauchi have died. Newsmen report that the accident occurred on Sunday morning, when a Toyota Hummer bus belonging to Borno Express heading to Maiduguri from Jos, with 14 passengers, and a VW Golf 3 wagon coming from Misau heading to Bauchi, with 8 passengers, including two female children, onboard, had a head-on collision. The two vehicles had plate registration numbers as BO89A28 for the bus, and MSA759XA for the Golf car, respectively. Mechanic in court allegedly ‘causing’ death of 4-year old girl
A 27-year-old mechanic, Friday Ogbu, who allegedly drove recklessly, causing the death of a four-year-old girl, on Thursday appeared in Chief Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada, FCT. The police charged Ogbu is charged with dangerous driving and manslaughter. The Prosecution Counsel, Mayowa Adefioye, told the court that the defendant drove his Toyota Camry with registration Number BWA779HK on the Tunga-maji Anagada expressway and knocked down three pedestrians on Dec. 25. He said that as a result of the accident, three children sustained different degrees of injuries and on arrival at Lucas Hospital Madalla, one of them was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty. Some bandits on motorcycles have invaded Kaya Village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killed no fewer than 19 persons, including the leader of the volunteer team in the area. Driver knocks down cyclist, passenger in Anambra
Two persons on Saturday afternoon sustained varying degrees of injury in a serious crash along Ugwuakpati Ozu road in Nnewi, Anambra state. The victims, a commercial motorcyclist and his passenger were on the motorcycle when they were knocked down by the driver who lost control of the vehicle while answering calls.
