deadmau5 recently revealed who will be joining him for the tenth volume of his we are friends compilation series. While relaxation might not typically be associated with mau5trap releases, the deadmau5-led imprint is trying its hand at R&R with a new playlist exclusively for sleep and meditation app Calm. Released January 15th, the nine-track “flow & focus” playlist cycles through tracks by deadmau5 and friends, including ATTLAS, Getter and Midoca.  Featured songs include Rinzen‘s ambient remix of deadmau5’s “acedia (ov),” ATTLAS’ slow-burning “Lavender God,” and an instrumental version of Getter and Allan Kingdom‘s “Numb,” among others. In one of the more unexpected reveals in recent dance music memory, it seems that the legendary deadmau5 has been hard at work on a collaboration with Grammy Award-winning rock band Portugal. The Man.  The existence of the track was revealed when a fan tweeted a short video cut from deadmau5’s recent performance at Texas Motor Speedway. Portugal. After his latest drive-in concert, deadmau5 has officially debunked the “as quiet as a mouse” metaphor. Last Friday, January 8th, deadmau5 touched down in Texas for a show at the city of Hutto’s Brushy Creek Amphitheater. Having performed at a string of successful drive-in concerts to kick off 2021, the latest iteration seems to have ruffled the feathers of locals due to its booming bass, among other sounds. According to a report by Austin, Texas ABC affiliate station KVUE, local Hutto residents in the concert’s surrounding area took to social media to voice their frustrations about the noise. Those of you who are unable to attend deadmau5‘s 2020 New Year’s drive-in shows are in luck. After another typically huge year, the mau5 is set to bid adieu to 2020 with a run of drive-in concerts in Southern California, two of which will be livestreamed for those taking in the celebrations at home. Fans will be able to stream his December 31st show before tuning into his January 2nd, 2021 performance, in which he’ll be operating under his dark techno alias TESTPILOT. His New Year’s Eve stream is scheduled to kick off at 6PM PT (9PM ET) and will also feature fellow mau5trap artists No Mana and Speaker Honey before its conclusion at 10PM PT (1PM ET). Coming soon to the airwaves is “Channel 43,” the first new collaboration from deadmau5 and Wolfgang Gartner in almost a decade. deadmau5 and Los Angeles-based graffiti artist OG Slick have dropped a highly anticipated merch collaboration on the producer’s mau5hop. The collaboration comes in the form “OG Slick x deadmau5” hoodies, long sleeve tees, and two vibrant 24×24 original art prints, one in a rich and bright yellow and the other in a sleek black. Each is printed on 250 GSM Coventry Rag paper and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, which is signed by both deadmau5 and OG Slick.
