Michael B. Jordan Officially Producing Live-Action Static Shock Movie

One of the biggest reveals to come out of the DC FanDome event is news that Michael B. Jordan is officially onboard to produce a live-action Static Shock movie. The hero known as Static first connected with fans as a hero created by DC Comics imprint Milestone Media. A cartoon series followed in 2000, making the electrifying hero a household name amongst comic fans. It wasn’t until 2008 that Static Shock officially merged with the mainstream DC superhero line, and with Milestone recently being relaunched by the comic book company, the character is ready to retake the spotlight. Static is Virgil Hawkins, a teenager who gains electromagnetic superpowers after being exposed to a mutagenic gas. His power over electricity and magnetism allows him to fire electrostatic blasts from his ...

John Cena’s Peacemaker Is the Hero We Don’t Need in First Trailer for HBO Max Show: Watch

He’s not the hero we need, but maybe he’s the hero we deserve. Peacemaker is here in the first trailer for John Cena’s The Suicide Squad spin-off series coming to HBO Max on January, 13th 2022. Picking up where the hit DC Extended Universe movie left off, Cena’s Peacemaker is brought back from the brink of death by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) “just to save the fucking world, that’s all.” Now under the charge of his handlers (Danielle Brooks’ Leota Adebayo, Chukwudi Iwuji’s Clemson Murn,  Steve Agee’s John Economos, and Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt), it’s up to Peacemaker to bring peace to the country — no matter who he has to kill to get it. The teaser trailer also introduces Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, another wacky anti-hero who kills for the greater good. We als...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: WB Games / Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League The second DC FanDome went down, and we got two new trailers for both Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and Gotham Knights. DC announced both games were in the works last year during the first-ever DC FanDome virtual event. Since then, we haven’t gotten much information about either title. Saturday (Oct.16), during the second installment of the web event that showcases all things DC Comics, we got two brand new trailers, but unfortunately, no gameplay. Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s trailer gave us more insight into the upcoming game with players either teaming up with a friend or going it alone while taking control of Amanda Waller’s Task Force X. This version of the team of supervillains t...

The Flash Movie First Look Reveals Michael Keaton’s Batman, Sasha Calle’s Supergirl: Watch

The upcoming Ezra Miller-starring The Flash movie is still in production and over a year away, but today’s DC FanDome virtual event provided fans an exciting sneak peak of the “Flashpoint” storyline adaptation — including a tease of Michael Keaton’s return as Batman. The clip reveals a new-look Flash, with a completely redesigned costume that’s a far cry from the armored version seen in Justice League, including a familiar looking ring fans should be excited about. We see Miller’s Barry Allen use his powers to travel back to save his mother, Nora (played by Maribel Verdú), causing a cascading effect throughout the timeline. As a result, Flash is forced to recruit superheroes from disparate realities to set things right. As we see in the teaser, that includes Supergirl (Sasha Calle), a...

DC FanDome Unfurls First Look at Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu in Shazam! Fury of the Gods: Watch

All together now: “Shazam!” DC unveiled a first look at the upcoming sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods during Saturday’s virtual FanDome event. Though very little finished film was show during the preview, we do get a new sense of the movie’s scale. For one, there are two villains this time around: Helen Mirren’s Hespera and Lucy Liu’s Kalypso. They’ll put the Shazam family to the test as they battle mythological creatures like minotaurs and dragons from Athens to the Realm of the Gods. Check out the footage below. The title for the upcoming sequel starring Zachary Levi was first revealed at last year’s DC FanDome. Alongside Levi, Mirren, and Liu, the movie will see the return of Asher Angel as 14-year-old Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, and Adam Brody as Freddy’s superher...

The Batman Faces The Riddler in New Trailer for Robert Pattinson’s DC Movie: Watch

It’s been over a year since we got the first trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Robert Pattinson’s debut as the Dark Knight was originally targeting an October 1st, 2021 debut, but following the star catching COVID-19 last September and the industry’s slow return in the midst of the pandemic, it was shoved back to March 4th, 2022. As the new date approaches, Warner Bros. has finally unleashed another new look at the film, debuting a fresh trailer during the DC FanDome event. The clip finds Pattinson’s Batman squaring off with Paul Dano’s The Riddler — a far darker take on the classic villain than, say, Jim Carrey’s version from 1995’s Batman Forever. In fact, Bats himself seems grittier in response, as Pattinson’s hero is clearly dealing with some aggressive anger. In addition ...

DC Comics Drops “The American Way” from Superman’s Motto

DC Comics is making a bunch of changes to Superman that are sure to have certain snowflakes in a tizzy. Not only did they recently announce that the current Superman, Jon Kent, is bisexual, they’ve now removed the “American Way” part of Supes’ classic motto, “Truth, Justice, and the American Way.” Going forward, Superman will be fighting for “Truth, Justice, and a Better Tomorrow.” The rephrasing was announced during the DC FanDome event by DC Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee. “To better reflect the storylines that we are telling across DC and to honor Superman’s incredible legacy of over 80 years of building a better world, Superman’s motto is evolving,” Lee stated. “Superman has long been a symbol of hope who inspires people, and it is that optimism and hope that powers him f...

Zack Snyder’s Justice League Director’s Cut Revealed in First Trailer: Watch

Fans begged, pleaded, and campaigned for this, and now it’s finally here: Zack Snyder has shared the first full trailer for the Justice League Director’s Cut at Saturday’s DC Fandome virtual event. From the jump, the preview makes it clear this is very different from 2018’s Joss Whedon-re-worked theatrical Justice League. It opens with a shot of the DC Extended Universe’s biggest baddie, Darkseid, played by Ray Porter but ultimately excised from the original cut of the film. There’s also new glimpses of the film’s primary antagonist, Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds), whose look has been updated as more metallic and with a less humanoid face, like he was seen in the infamous Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice deleted scene. What really stands out here is how much more fleshed out the non-Batman-a...

Robert Pattinson is The Batman in Nirvana-Soundtracked First Trailer: Watch

Warner Bros. closed out DC Fandome on Saturday night with their highly anticipated panel for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. As expected, the event saw our most comprehensive look at the forthcoming re-imagining, which stars Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight. Gorgeously soundtracked to Nirvana’s dour “Something in the Way”, the film’s first trailer reveals a Gotham City awash in the kind of realism that once fueled Christopher Nolan’s universe. Yet unlike his trilogy, Reeves’ vision carries a more dystopian, punk rock edge that feels like a DIY deconstruction of Frank Miller’s Year One (though, according to Reeves, the story actually takes place in the second year of Bruce Wayne’s life as Batman). Story-wise, it appears there’s a creepy murder mystery that’s sending Jeffrey Wright’s Commis...
