Call it Mission Impawsibble: Superman’s dog Krypto teams up with a ragtag band of shelter pets to save the Justice League in the new trailer for DC League of Super-Pets. The preview opens with Krypto (Dwayne Johnson) attempting to wake his out-of-this-world owner Clark Kent (John Krasinski) for a super walk. We find out that while Krypto is loyal, kind, and capable of flight, he has trouble relating to more Earthly dogs, leaving him somewhat lonely. But when Lex Luthor (Marc Maron) contrives to capture the Justice League, it falls on Krypto to save the day — with a little help. Something small, bright and red explodes in a room full of caged animals, granting them superpowers. The dog Ace (Kevin Hart) becomes indestructible, the pig PB (Vanessa Bayer) gains the ability to expand in si...
The DC Extended Universe is at the forefront of the Fraserssance. Already with a starring role on Doom Patrol, Brendan Fraser has now joined the cast of Batgirl as the villainous Firefly (via Deadline). Fraser will face off against Leslie Grace as the title heroine in the upcoming HBO Max feature. Firefly, aka Garfield Lynns, is one of the most enduring members of the Bat-Family’s Rogues Gallery. He’s also a pretty straightforward bad guy, as far as the typical Gotham psychopaths are concerned: He’s a pyromaniac who uses a fireproof flight suit to zip around setting blazes with the attached flamethrower, napalm bombs, and in some instances even a superheated plasma sword. Batgirl is coming from Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, with a script fr...
One of the biggest reveals to come out of the DC FanDome event is news that Michael B. Jordan is officially onboard to produce a live-action Static Shock movie. The hero known as Static first connected with fans as a hero created by DC Comics imprint Milestone Media. A cartoon series followed in 2000, making the electrifying hero a household name amongst comic fans. It wasn’t until 2008 that Static Shock officially merged with the mainstream DC superhero line, and with Milestone recently being relaunched by the comic book company, the character is ready to retake the spotlight. Static is Virgil Hawkins, a teenager who gains electromagnetic superpowers after being exposed to a mutagenic gas. His power over electricity and magnetism allows him to fire electrostatic blasts from his ...
He’s not the hero we need, but maybe he’s the hero we deserve. Peacemaker is here in the first trailer for John Cena’s The Suicide Squad spin-off series coming to HBO Max on January, 13th 2022. Picking up where the hit DC Extended Universe movie left off, Cena’s Peacemaker is brought back from the brink of death by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) “just to save the fucking world, that’s all.” Now under the charge of his handlers (Danielle Brooks’ Leota Adebayo, Chukwudi Iwuji’s Clemson Murn, Steve Agee’s John Economos, and Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt), it’s up to Peacemaker to bring peace to the country — no matter who he has to kill to get it. The teaser trailer also introduces Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, another wacky anti-hero who kills for the greater good. We als...
The upcoming Ezra Miller-starring The Flash movie is still in production and over a year away, but today’s DC FanDome virtual event provided fans an exciting sneak peak of the “Flashpoint” storyline adaptation — including a tease of Michael Keaton’s return as Batman. The clip reveals a new-look Flash, with a completely redesigned costume that’s a far cry from the armored version seen in Justice League, including a familiar looking ring fans should be excited about. We see Miller’s Barry Allen use his powers to travel back to save his mother, Nora (played by Maribel Verdú), causing a cascading effect throughout the timeline. As a result, Flash is forced to recruit superheroes from disparate realities to set things right. As we see in the teaser, that includes Supergirl (Sasha Calle), a...
All together now: “Shazam!” DC unveiled a first look at the upcoming sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods during Saturday’s virtual FanDome event. Though very little finished film was show during the preview, we do get a new sense of the movie’s scale. For one, there are two villains this time around: Helen Mirren’s Hespera and Lucy Liu’s Kalypso. They’ll put the Shazam family to the test as they battle mythological creatures like minotaurs and dragons from Athens to the Realm of the Gods. Check out the footage below. The title for the upcoming sequel starring Zachary Levi was first revealed at last year’s DC FanDome. Alongside Levi, Mirren, and Liu, the movie will see the return of Asher Angel as 14-year-old Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, and Adam Brody as Freddy’s superher...
It’s been over a year since we got the first trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Robert Pattinson’s debut as the Dark Knight was originally targeting an October 1st, 2021 debut, but following the star catching COVID-19 last September and the industry’s slow return in the midst of the pandemic, it was shoved back to March 4th, 2022. As the new date approaches, Warner Bros. has finally unleashed another new look at the film, debuting a fresh trailer during the DC FanDome event. The clip finds Pattinson’s Batman squaring off with Paul Dano’s The Riddler — a far darker take on the classic villain than, say, Jim Carrey’s version from 1995’s Batman Forever. In fact, Bats himself seems grittier in response, as Pattinson’s hero is clearly dealing with some aggressive anger. In addition ...
Fans got their first look at the upcoming Black Adam movie at DC FanDome on Saturday. The teaser finally showed Dwayne Johnson in costume, suited up as the titular DC supervillain ahead of Black Adam’s planned 2022 release. Promising “the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change,” the teaser included a look at the first appearance of Black Adam in the film. He’s a brutal and powerful as fans could have hoped, so check it out below. In some behind-the-scenes shots, we also got sneak peeks at Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate (check out that classic helmet!), Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone — collectively known as the Justice Society. With The Suicide Squad receiving strong reviews, some have taken renewed aim at the original from filmmaker David Ayer. In a new post heralded simply by the phrase “My turn,” the director has fired back at critics while disavowing the theatrical release of 2016’s Suicide Squad. The three-page retort came as a direct response to Screen International film critic Tim Grierson, who after tweeting his enjoyment of the new sequel, said, “Many times while watching the new movie, I thought, ‘Yeah, David Ayer should just abandon the idea of that director’s cut.” This was clearly a shot saying there was no way Ayer’s vision could elevate the disappointing Suicide Squad to the level of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Ayer wasn’t having it. Ayer’s post opened an explanation of his hard-fought lif...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-19T20:05:04+00:00“>May 19, 2021 | 4:05pm ET Quick, to the Bat-Remote! Superstar directors J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves are developing a new animated series called Batman: Caped Crusader. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, it’s found a streaming home on HBO Max alongside the forthcoming cartoon My Adventures with Superman. Joined by DC animation legend Bruce Timm (the man behind the iconic Batman: The Animated Series), Caped Crusader is said to be a “reimagining of the Batman mythology” –although, based on the first poster, it’s still about a man who dresses like a bat. Instead, this seems to refer to a shift in perspective and tone. In a joint statement...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-19T22:15:30+00:00“>May 19, 2021 | 6:15pm ET While Batwoman continues to fight amongst The CW’s Arrowverse heroes, it looks like another member of the Bat-family is suiting up for HBO Max. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the long-in-development Batgirl film has found its directors in Bad Boys for Life filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. Batgirl first began as the project of Joss Whedon in 2017, but the writer/director departed a year later after being unable to satisfactorily crack the story. Warner Bros. then brought on seasoned DC Extended Universe writer Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, the upcoming The Flash) to figure out th...

The American Horror Story actor has been cast as one of the lead ring bearers in HBO Max’s upcoming DC Extended Universe series Green Lantern. Coming from executive producer Greg Berlanti (he of The CW’s Arrowverse) and showrunner Seth Grahame-Smith (The LEGO Batman Movie), Green Lantern is said to feature different incarnations of the title character from across galaxies — and across time. That makes sense giving the legacy of the Green Lantern character, as the comics have typically featured numerous characters wearing the Power Rings of the Green Lante...
