With this year marking the 25th anniversary of Wes Craven’s first Scream film, David Arquette has shown no intention of distancing himself from anything and everything spooky. As if reprising his role as Woodsboro sheriff Dewey Riley in next year’s Scream reboot isn’t enough to cement his horror legacy, the actor has acquired the rights to a character we would argue is even more terrifying than Ghostface: Bozo the Clown. Arquette discussed the sale recently on Chicago’s WGN-TV, saying he’s been a longtime fan of the children’s entertainment icon. He’s Bozo’s first new owner in 65 years, having acquired the rights from Larry Harmon Pictures, which largely popularized the character. “I fell in love with Bozo when I was a kid living in Evanston, Illinois,” shared Arquette. “Bob Bell’s po...
Joe Keery is back, but not to save the day. The Stranger Things star is ditching his Hawkins hero guise for a devilish new look in the forthcoming rideshare thriller Spree. The film hits VOD on August 14th via RLJE Films and they’ve just dropped a trailer. Directed by Eugene Kotlyarenko, Keery plays Kurt, a 23-year-old rideshare driver that’s hungrier than ever to go viral. So hungry, in fact, that he’s devised an uncompromising scheme that takes advantage of his passengers. Judging from the trailer below, Spree appears to find itself in the found-footage genre as Keery’s character has wired his car with a number of cameras to capture the mayhem. Because of this, there’s an air of authenticity to the chaos. Editors’ Picks In addition to Keery, the film stars a who’s who of cast membe...
Sheriff Dewey Riley will escape the clutches of death yet again. Well, hopefully. According to Deadline, David Arquette has signed on to reprise his iconic role in the forthcoming Scream reboot from Radio Silence and Spyglass Media Group. “I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new,” Arquette shared. “Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.” Editors’ Picks Arquette starred in all four of the Scream films, clumsily surviving each one. Will his luck carry over for a fifth go-around? We’ll have to wait and see. However, he won’t be the only familiar face answering horror trivia and running for their lives. Reports suggest that several other original c...
