NHC Releases ‘Lazy Eyes’ Video From First Show at the Troubadour

Rock super-trio, NHC, just released a video for their track “Lazy Eyes.” The Los Angeles-based rockers—Dave Navarro, Taylor Hawkins, and Chris Chaney—performed their first headlining gig at the Troubadour on November 23. All three tough-looking rockers are all smiling throughout the set. Foo Fighters rhythm guitarist Pat Smear joined the trio on guitar, and can’t seem to wipe the soft smile off his face, while Navarro happily sings with and points to Hawkins and the two back-up singers. NHC most recently released “Lazy Eyes” and “Devil That You Know” together on November 12. Shortly after announcing their forming in September, the band debuted th...

NHC Releases Two New Songs

Rock’s newest super trio, NHC, is back with two new songs, “Devil That You Know” and “Lazy Eyes.” The Los Angeles rock band consists of Jane’s Addiction and former Red Hot Chili Pepper guitarist Dave Navarro, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, and bassist Chris Chaney. NHC first joined forces this year, and released their first two singles in September. The songs released today precede the band’s first headlining stint (that’s already sold-out) on November 23 at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. When NHC decided to band up, they quickly realized their inspirations relaying on one another. Hawkins had priorly played alongside Chaney in Alanis Morissette’s band in the mid-90’s, and they asked Navarro, who Hawkins deems “the best lead guitarist in alternative rock,” to join in on the group. Al...

Dave Navarro, Taylor Hawkins Form New Band NHC, Share Two Songs

If you thought Taylor Hawkins was busy enough to do anything else besides what he’s done this year, well, guess again! Hawkins teamed up with Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro and bassist Chris Chaney (who also played with Hawkins in Alanis Morissette’s band) to form NHC. According to a release, NHC formed in the past year, and needless to say, these guys know each other pretty well from over the years. NHC shared their first two songs, “Feed the Cruel” and “Better Move On,” which features Hawkins on lead vocals and drums, and you can hear them below. The trio will be making their live debut in two weeks at Eddie Vedder’s Ohana Encore weekend in Dana Point on October 2. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. To Live and Die in L.A.: Our 1996 Red Hot Chili Peppers Cover Story

This article originally appeared in the April 1996 issue of SPIN. “Los Angeles is my favorite city in the world!” declares super foxy Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Dave Navarro, offering as proof of his conviction the city’s name tattooed on the back of his neck. “I would never live anywhere else.” Navarro, drummer Chad Smith, and I are wedged into Newsroom, a trendy Beverly Hills restaurant/coffee house/media mill where omnipresent TV monitors serve up the latest from the E! network with your rice-milk cappuccinos. “But I feel like the bad is taking over,” says Smith, an unadulterated rock dude and Detroit native who, Navarro says, wrote the book on that city’s infamous evening of arson known as Devil’s Night. “I wouldn’t want my kids growing up here,” admits Smith, who at age 33 s...
