Foo Fighters Announce 26th Anniversary Tour

After having their grand plans to celebrate their 25th anniversary as a band shelved due to COVID, Foo Fighters are finally ready to hit the road. The group had been teasing activity throughout the holiday weekend, and now we know why. In honor of what’s now their 26th anniversary, the Foos announced a handful of tour dates that begin in July and will span a few weeks in the middle of the country. “Having confirmed their appearances atop the 2021 lineups of Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Bottlerock, Foo Fighters are answering the burning question of “Are they doing any of their own shows?” with a resounding FUCK YES,” a statement says a bit more succinctly. Radkey will support the band on this run, with more dates promised to be announced in the near future. If you’re a Citi cardholder, you ca...

Watch Dave Grohl Have Fun Co-Hosting The Tonight Show

The multi-talented and always busy Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl added  “co-host” to his resume when he co-hosted  The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday. In front of a live studio audience, Grohl helped with all the customary hosting duties, including the opening monologue, the interviews, the sketches and even performed a couple of musical numbers. Fallon and Grohl went head to head on the “Off Songs Song Off” challenge — where it took Grohl an uncomfortably long time to recognize the Nirvana song “Lithium.” The pair also recreated the Rick Astley “Rick Roll” meme as the Grohl Roll during a live performance of “The Best of You,” where he was joined by Fallon and the two traded screamed “the best!’ at each other. Watch the pair play below. [embedded conte...

Dave Grohl to Co-Host Tonight Show on Monday

It’s already been long established that Dave Grohl can do it all. Well, not all, but he can do a lot. The latest stint? Co-hosting the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. When you think about it, it makes sense. Grohl will be alongside Fallon on Monday night’s episode where he’ll deliver the monologue, riff, play games and interview the other guest, comedian Jim Jefferies. However, Grohl won’t be the musical guest, which will be Blake Shelton. This is the latest in what’s been a busy 2021. Foo Fighters released Medicine at Midnight in February, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last week in their first year of eligibility, he has a new show on Paramount+ with his mother Virginia and oh, Grohl released his long-awaited documentary on vans last month...

Dave Grohl, Violet Grohl Joined by Krist Novoselic to Cover X’s ‘Nausea’

It was a two-Grohl show when dad and daughter — Dave and 15-year-old Violet — were joined by Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and keyboard player Greg Kurstin for a cover of the song “Nausea” by L.A. punk band X. The song is from the elder Grohl’s upcoming documentary What Drives Us. The remote performance saw Violet sing the part originally performed by X’s Exene Cervenka, while Dave took X singer/bassist John Doe’s parts on the faithful version of the 1980 song. The song’s artwork, a letter G “on fire,” also mimics the original X album, which featured that letter in flames. As Grohl said last week in a lengthy Instagram post, his long-lost cousin, DJ Bonebrake, is X’s drummer. Grohl also spoke at length to Kimmel about his myriad projects. Some peop...

Dave Grohl Teams With His Daughter Violet for Cover of X’s ‘Nausea’

Last month, Dave Grohl admitted that his teenage daughter Violet got him into the Misfits, which was pretty impressive. Now, they’ve taken their music sharing to a different degree. Violet has performed with her father in the past, but only on stage. The father-daughter combo teamed up for a cover of X’s “Nausea” from the punk group’s 1980 album, Los Angeles. In a lengthy new post on his Dave’s True Stories Instagram account, Grohl explained his X fandom — which includes a choice story about his long-lost cousin…none other than X’s DJ Bonebrake. Believe it or not, they only met for the first time in 2007 at the Henry Fonda Theater. Here’s what he said: Still, I needed to see it to believe it. Having never met DJ before, I decided to invite him to a Foo Fighters show at LA’s Henry Fond...

Foo Fighters Share ‘Chasing Birds’ Animated Video for 4/20

For the stoner’s holiday that is April 20, the Foo Fighters shared a trippy animated video for their tune “Chasing Birds.” The clip sees Dave Grohl and company performing, while the singer/guitarist sees “trails” and meets a talking cactus in the clip’s desert landscape. While the lyrics for “Chasing Birds” include “Chasing birds / To get high  / I’m never coming down,” it’s not an overt drug song, but the visuals are perfect for those who do enjoy some green, which is legal in Grohl’s adopted home state of California. His bandmates also find themselves melting, falling into a chasm, seeing colorful monsters and having assorted trippy experiences. “Chasing Birds” is off the band’s latest LP, Medicine at Midnight. You can read our review of the album here. Dave Grohl and His Mom Virginia Unveil First From Cradle to Stage Trailer

Back in February, Paramount+ announced a slate of new shows that includes Dave Grohl and his mom Virginia Hanlon Grohl turning her book From Cradle to Stage into a six-part television series. Today, the mother/son duo unveiled the show’s first trailer and announced its star-studded list of contributors, which features Brandi Carlile and her mom Teresa, Tom Morello and his mom Mary, and Geddy Lee and his mom Mary Weinrib, among others. “I believe that the relationship between a musician and their mother is so important because it’s the foundation of their understanding of love, which is surely every artist’s greatest muse,” Grohl explained in a statement. “Having the opportunity to travel the country and tell the stories of these amazing women behind the curtain not only...

Watch Mick Jagger, Dave Grohl Sing About TikTok, Gaining Pandemic Weight on ‘Eazy Sleazy’

As the world hobbles back to normal with the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, Mick Jagger released a rocking new song about how much he hated staying at home all year. “It’s a song that I wrote about coming out of lockdown, with some much-needed optimism,” Jagger said in a statement. The Rolling Stones singer recruited none other than Dave Grohl to assist on drums, bass, and guitar. The Foo Fighters musician plays all three in the gritty new lyric video for “Eazy Sleazy,” as Jagger begs for a lobotomy after a year spent learning how to cook in his home “prison.” We can relate! “It’s hard to put into words what recording this song with Sir Mick means to me,” Grohl said in a statement. “It’s beyond a dream come true. Just when I thought life couldn’t get any crazier.” Watch the video below...

Dave Grohl-Directed What Drives Us Van Documentary Is Out on April 30

Remember last year (in the before times) when Dave Grohl sat down with Bill Simmons and mentioned that he was working on a documentary about van culture with regards to touring? Well, nearly 16 months later, it’s finally coming out. Titled What Drives Us, Grohl’s doc will stream on Coda Collection in the U.S. and on Amazon Prime Video abroad beginning on April 30. “This film is my love letter to every musician that has ever jumped in an old van with their friends and left it all behind for the simple reward of playing music,” Grohl said in a statement. “What started as a project to pull back the curtain on the DIY logistics of stuffing all of your friends and equipment into a small space for months on end eventually turned into an exploration of ‘why?’ What drives us?’” Watch the trai...

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, a 16-time Grammy winner, two-time Emmy-winning director and genial jack of all trades, adds “author” to his list of accomplishments with the announcement of The Storyteller, his first book, out Oct. 5 . “There is a common thread that runs throughout everything that I do: storytelling,” explains Grohl in a statement. “Whether in song, documentary film or on the page, I have always felt compelled to share moments from my life. This inclination is a huge part of what excites me creatively but also as a human being.” The tome is promised to contain “hilarious childhood mishaps, touching family moments, leaving home to see the world at eighteen, and spectacular stories about Nirvana, Foo Fighters, David Bowie, Joan Jett, Iggy Pop, Paul McCartney.” And...

Dave Grohl Shares the Story Behind ‘Everlong’

If you watched Dave Grohl perform an acoustic version of “Everlong” at Oates Song Fest 7908 over the weekend, then you’ve already heard the story behind the iconic Foo Fighters song. For the rest of us, that performance and tale is now available on YouTube, Instagram, and everywhere in between. According to Grohl, the Foo Fighters’ debatably most popular song was birthed in a Seattle recording studio while he was waiting between takes, and it initially began with a chord that sounded “like Sonic Youth.” <!– // Brid Player Singles. var _bp = _bp||[]; _bp.push({ “div”: “Brid_10143537”, “obj”: {“id”:”25115″,”width”:”480″,”height”:”270″,”playlist”:”10315″...

Dave Grohl Loves the Misfits Now, All Thanks to His Daughter

Dave Grohl has a confession to make: he never liked the Misfits, and he’s not even sure why. But times have changed, and he’s fallen in love with the band after his daughter convinced him to give the horror-punk legends another try. “Now, when I was young I never really liked the Misfits,” Grohl said on Anders Bøtters’ Tiny TV. “I loved all these other hardcore punk rock bands but I never really liked the Misfits, and I don’t know why. So my daughter starts listening to the Misfits, and now she’s turning me on to the Misfits. She’s 14-years-old. She’s like, ‘No, no, no Dad, you have to listen to this.’ So now I love the Misfits. My daughter made me love the Misfits.” <!– // Brid Player Singles. var _bp = _bp||[]; _bp.push({ “div”: “Brid_10143537”, “ob...
