Amnesia Ibiza Tests App That Converts Dance Moves to Donations

Desperados is helping ravers dance towards a brighter future. Desperados, a subsidiary of the Heineken company, is the manufacturer of the world’s first tequila flavored beer and certainly no stranger to making the world feel in their element on the dancefloor.  However, the company recently found a new way to engage concert-goers with their Rave To Save app. The app incentivizes dancing by tracking the user’s steps and converting their steps into charitable donations. The initiative arrives in the wake of surveys conducted by Desperados, which revealed that 60% of respondents believe the party scene should be more active in supporting charitable causes. To that end, clubbers have since had no trouble putting their money where their feet are. Scroll to Continue Recommended...

New Study Suggests Dance Music Is Good For Your Cognitive Health

Sad boi emo songs ain’t got nothin’ on dance music. A recent study published in Scientific Reports suggests that dance music can be beneficial to your cognitive health. They studied 51 young adults with an average age of 20, examining the effect of “groove rhythms” on the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for the executive function that dictates our everyday movements and decisions. Conducted by a group of Japanese researchers, the study added that the music doesn’t necessarily have to be electronic dance music, but rather a song with a simple groove that makes you want to get up and dance. “The results were surprising,” Dr. Hideaki Soya, the study’s lead author, told ScienceDaily. “We found tha...

Red Bull Dance Your Style Miami Was A Fitting Precursor For U.S. Finals In Washington D.C.

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Red Bull / Red Bull Content Pool Dance is often explained as movements set to rhythm and while that is indeed accurate, the description fails to capture the artform’s many complexities. This past weekend in Miami, the final Red Bull Dance Your Style qualifier event ahead of the U.S. Finals provided thrills, twists, and turns, not unlike the skills displayed by the syle masters who took to the dance floor. Hosted in the sunny backdrop of The Magic City, Red Bull Dance Your Style Miami was held at the world-famous LIV and hosted by Florida native and multifaceted entertainer, MyVerse. Unlike Red Bull BC One where there existed a panel of guest judges, this event featured no judges, no pre-chosen music, and an innovative fan vote feature that, at times, spar...

Dancing Tool Baby (via YouTube), Tool’s Maynard James Keenan (photo by Kevin RC Wilson) With a pandemic still plaguing the world and insurrectionists storming the U.S. Capitol, we need a bit of levity in these dark times. That’s where a new video of a baby dancing to Tool’s “Invincible” comes in, brightening our spirits with every one of his little stomps. We stumbled on this video in its infancy, and we’re not just talking about the baby’s age. Criminally, it only had 20 views since being uploaded just before Christmas by YouTube user Mom of Five. With the Fear Inoculum track “Invincible” playing on the family’s television, complete with a graphic of the album cover, the little Batman-pajama-wearing toddler seems to be drawn to the music. As he makes his way to the TV with his sippy...

Thankfully, a viral Tweet has drawn attention to one of the most amazing competitions no one knew about: dogs dancing competitively to such songs as Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life”, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, and Ylvis’ “The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)”. Technically, the contest is called “International Freestyle Heelwork to Music”, and it takes place during the UK’s annual Crufts dog show and competition. While video of the 2020 event was posted back in April, a recent Twitter share of a dog and trainer dancing to Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life” has shown a new spotlight on the amazing competition everyone’s been missing. It’s hard to pick who’s more entertaining, the dogs or the trainers (some in ...

Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, the Vice Chancellor, Alex-Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi, has said that idleness among students leads them into cultism.
