The BPM Festival Costa Rica Postpones 2022 Event

Two days before it was scheduled to begin, organizers of The BPM Festival Costa Rica have postponed the event. The festival had been scheduled to take place in the beach town of Tamarindo, Costa Rica from Jan. 12-18, 2022. Organizers have not yet published new dates. “After more than a year of planning and looking forward to welcoming you to our 15th anniversary edition, we sympathize with your sense of disappointment and frustration and are beyond heartbroken to share this news with you,” BPM organizers wrote in a statement. This postponement is due to new country-wide restrictions announced today (Jan. 10) that ban mass gatherings, among other regulations. These regulations will extend from Jan. 11-23. Departure Festival Cancels Playa Del Carmen Event

Departure Festival has canceled its inaugural show in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. The electronic event was scheduled to begin Friday (Jan. 7) in the resort destination and extend through Jan. 11 with a stacked lineup featuring more than 70 artists, including Black Coffee, Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens, Vintage Culture, Lee Foss and many more. “We have been liaising with local authorities from Playa Del Carmen and with the recent severe rise in the cases of Omicron in the past few days, the Governor announced last night that Playa Del Carmen is returning to yellow tier COVID restrictions and therefore we cannot continue with a show of this size as planned,” organizers wrote in a statement posted to social media on Friday. Daft Punk Returns to No. 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart With ‘Tron: Legacy’

Daft Punk re-enters Billboard‘s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart (dated Dec. 25) at No. 1 with its Tron: Legacy soundtrack, following the release of its Target exclusive blue/clear vinyl edition. The set registered 10,000 equivalent album units in the Dec. 10-16 tracking week, up 1,364%, with nearly all (94%) from physical sales, according to MRC Data. It’s the 11th total week at No. 1 for Tron, and its first since April 30, 2011. In its first chart run, the soundtrack to the hit 2010 sci-fi film debuted atop the chart dated exactly 11 years ago this week (Dec. 25, 2010).
