Award-winning creator Nick Brick has leveraged the possibilities of the world’s most recognizable colored bricks to immortalize Daft Punk’s capstone album. It’s difficult to fathom that nearly 10 years have passed since the release of the robots’ Random Access Memories. But as the landmark 10th anniversary approaches of the project that brought us “Get Lucky,” “Doin’ It Right” and so much more, Brick has showcased the iconic album’s art using LEGOs as his creative medium. Taking to TikTok, the LEGO craftsman showed off his physical recreation of the album’s cover while putting on the finishing touches. Inserting a piece of reflective sticker paper into the middle of the design, Brick adds a shiny flare to a spitting recreation of Thomas...

A small band of googly-eyed electric toothbrushes is here with a cover of Daft Punk‘s legendary track, “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.” The cover, which uses an ab belt as a kick drum, comes courtesy of Device Orchestra, a YouTube channel that creates covers of popular music utilizing devices like credit card machines and typewriters. The toothbrush band’s Daft Punk cover has an audience of two dumbbells and a kettlebell, and one of the “members” performs with a mini 3D-printed dumbbell. Since the toothbrushes’ vibration frequency can be modified, this allows them to play the various notes and rhythms of the timeless electronic hit. The faster the vibration, the higher the frequency and vice versa. This is, of course, ...

Drake and 21 Savage‘s collaborative album, Her Loss, has dropped and there’s one particular track that immediately became a lightning rod for controversy. That track is “Circo Loco,” which is underpinned by an unexpected sample: a slow-rolling version of Daft Punk‘s iconic “One More Time.” The bold usage of the robots’ biggest hit isn’t the only thing that’s got the industry buzzing, however. In his verse, Drake sparked controversy on multiple fronts, taking aim at both Megan Thee Stallion and Ye (formerly known as Kanye West), respectively. Iconic indie pop band Phoenix have revealed they collaborated with Daft Punk‘s Thomas Bangalter for their new album. Speaking with Stereogum for the outlet’s “We’ve Got A File On You” interview series, Phoenix, who are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, said they worked with Bangalter to produce Alpha Zulu, the band’s seventh full-length album. Frontman Thomas Mars said the legendary Daft Punk member at times filled the void of Philippe Zdar, their late French compatriot and a deeply influential musician who helped produce a handful of the band’s albums. Zdar tragically died following an accidental fall in Paris in 2019. “The mixer played an important part on this one,” Mars said. “And Thomas [Bangalter] from ...
Daft Punk may no longer be together, but we’re not ready to stop reliving the duo’s golden days just yet. Fortunately, Disco Pogo‘s forthcoming book, Daft Punk – We Were The Robots, makes it easy to rediscover and celebrate the duo’s many historic achievements. The hardback book aggregates the stories, interviews and photographs that shaped Daft Punk’s meteoric rise to greatness, including several gems from the pre-internet era that may have otherwise been lost deep in the electronic music archives, like handwritten notes and drawings. Much of the book covers Daft Punk through the lens of their earliest media appearances, including their first-ever interview. The chat was printed in Jockey Slut, a British publication which ran from 1993 to 200...
Before Daft Punk‘s signature robot attire became a staple of pop culture, the design and functionality of their helmets were subject to years of trial and error. Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo launched Daft Punk in 1993, but it would be six years until they conceived their robot alter-egos in 1999. And the iconic helmets we know and love today apparently went through many iterations before they were finalized and changed electronic music forever. An Instagram page by the name of Aksploration has unearthed images which the account says depicts the development of Daft Punk’s helmets in 1999. Some early concepts even featured wigs, according to Aksploration. It seems the legacy of Daft Punk’s helmets has amplified in the wake of their shocking spl...
