Yuletide: NSCDC chief orders deployment of personnel to flash points

SIGNAL The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, has ordered the deployment of personnel to all nooks and crannies of the country in order to maintain peace, order and effective security of lives, property before, during and after the yuletide season. This is done against the backdrop of various reports of kidnapping, bandit attacks, assassinations and other forms of criminal activities in recent times. Ondo election: Governor Akeredolu warns Nyesom Wike to steer clear

The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has warned his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike, to steer clear of the October 10 governorship election in the state. Wike had on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Friday declared that Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party will win the Ondo Governorship election. The Rivers governor claimed that the All Progressives Congress was putting INEC under pressure to win the poll for Akeredolu, having lost in Edo State. Group lauds governments, Nigerians on fight against coronavirus

The Woman and Half Initiative (WAH), a group of successful professional women, has hailed the efforts of governments and Nigerians to contain the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Mrs Chile Udemgba, the WAH Promoter, made the commendation in a statement to newsmen in Lagos. Senate invites finance, works ministers, others over road projects

The Senate committee on finance has invited the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, over the funding status of three federal government legacy road projects estimated to cost N2.7 trillion. Also to appear before the panel are the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, and the Managing Director of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Uche Orji. The chairman of the panel, Solomon Olamilekan, gave the directive during an interactive session with the NSIA boss on Tuesday. The legacy projects are the Abuja-Kano road, Lagos-Ibadan expressway and the Second Niger Bridge. Enugu Disco expresses concern over vandalism of installations

File Photo The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has raised concern over the rising cases of vandalism of electricity installations within its network in the South-East. The Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Enugu. He decried the “wicked manner’’ power facilities belonging to EEDC were being vandalised across its network. Ezeh appealed to customers to be more vigilant in ensuring that the installations serving them were not vandalised. “This negative trend is not only affecting the organisation’s finances, but adversely impacting the quality of services to customers,” he said.
