Victorian police to get ‘greater power’ to seize crypto assets from criminals
Victorian Police in Australia will soon be granted new powers to seize cryptocurrency and digital assets from criminals, as well as compel platforms to hand over information about suspects. According to a statement released by Victorian premier Daniel Andrews on Aug. 2, new laws were introduced to parliament on Tuesday under the Major Crime and Community Safety Legislation Amendment Bill 2022, with the aim of cracking down on organized crime in the state. The new bill is expected to give authorities “greater power” to identify and seize digital assets, in response to the growing use of digital cryptocurrencies by organized crime. Nigeria’s judicial panel, especially the ongoing process set up by the Federal and some states governments to look into the recent police brutality and Lekki shooting, will receive a major boost if the government would embrace the Polygraph Lie Detector Device System. A security expert, Paul Ibirogba, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Hogan Guards Security Limited, stated this in Lagos at the inauguration of the Hogan Polygraph and Investigations Limited. CP: Six policemen killed, five stations razed in Oyo
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Chucks Enwonwu, has said six policemen were killed while five police stations were burnt by hoodlums during the violence that trailed the #EndSARS protest on the state. The CP, who said this at a press briefing in Ibadan on Wednesday, said nine suspects were however arrested in connection with arson and looting in Iseyin, in the Iseyin Local Government Area of the state.
