The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 67 persons for allegedly looting and burning Police Stations during the #EndSARS protest in the state. The police said six AK 47 rifles, and several ammunition which were carted away from Police armouries of Ebut-Ero and Ilemba Hausa police stations were also recovered from the suspects. Also recovered from some of the suspects were electronics and exortic cars hijacked from owners during the protest. The suspects were among 103 persons arrested for various criminal acts in the last one month. The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as Shiites, have called for unconditional release of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, along with those still in detention. Recalled that the convoy of Army Chief of Staff, Lt. General Yusuf Buratai had clashed with members of IMN in Zaria on December 12, 2015, leading to death of several persons on the fateful day. The Executive Secretary/CEO Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Mr Abdurrazaq Balogun, has blamed the rising crime across Lagos in the past weeks to the damage done to police assets and the number of lethal weapons in the possession of non-state actors. Balogun disclosed this during the 14th Town Hall Meeting on security, organised by the LSSTF, with the theme, “Lagos security: Resilience in the face of adversity,” held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island.
