Rocky Spinoff Drago in the Works from Writer Robert Lawton

Brace yourselves: Another Rocky spinoff is coming. MGM Studios has tapped Robert Lawton to write the screenplay for Drago, the latest addition to the iconic boxing franchise. Drago centers Ivan Drago, the Russian boxer who took on Sylvester Stallone’s beloved fighter in the 1985 film Rocky IV. Decades later, Ivan’s son, Viktor Drago, appeared in Creed II, the second spinoff following the amateur boxer Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan). Dolph Lundgren played Ivan Drago in Rocky IV and Florian Munteanu portrayed Viktor in Creed II, but it’s unclear whether either of them will reprise their roles in Drago.  Lawton, who contributed to 2006’s Sex & Sushi and 2012’s Crave, scored the Drago gig after writing the spec script Becom...

Mark Tremonti’s Sinatra Covers Album Was Written in the Stars

Three years ago, Mark Tremonti — guitarist/singer-songwriter/founding member of the rock bands Creed, Alter Bridge, and Tremonti — became absolutely obsessed with Frank Sinatra. Though he’d always been a fan of Frank’s and sang along suitably with Sinatra’s low register, this time was different. It was as if Tremonti was being deliberately pulled in Sinatra’s direction. Tremonti watched movies, read books, and insatiably scoured Sinatra’s catalog. He sang his songs relentlessly, even teaching himself to breathe, enunciate, and inflect like the legend. But still, even after 18 months, Tremonti couldn’t quite identify the reason for his newfound passion. Then it happened: Tremonti’s daughter, Stella, was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. Today, Tremonti is temporarily trading in his hard-rock se...

The triumphant feel of the tune helps convey this message as soaring melodies and explosive synths lead the charge. Stapp’s distinct timbre adds to the commanding feel of the arrangement, helping cultivate an inspirational atmosphere.  In his first foray into electronic music, everything felt natural for Stapp. “When I first heard the track, I instantly started recording melodies and lyrics. The piano, builds, crescendos, drops, and overall vibes just connect...

Reps speaker urges Nigerians not to believe conspiracy theories about coronavirus vaccine

The speaker of the house of representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has advised Nigerians not to believe conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 vaccines. Many Nigerians are wary about receiving the COVID-19 vaccine amid unverified claims that it contains microchips. Faisal Shuaib, chief executive officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), had recently dismissed the claims as false. The first shipment of the vaccines– 3.9 million doses– arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday and the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine was administered today. Speaking at the national flag-off ceremony for the COVID-19 vaccination in Abuja, Gbajabiamila urged Nigerians to rally behind the federal government to fight the pandemic. Creed’s Scott Stapp to Portray Frank Sinatra in New Movie About Ronald Reagan

When you think of Frank Sinatra, you probably don’t envision Scott Stapp, the former lead singer of Creed. But for those whose first impression of Sinatra comes from next year’s Reagan (a Ronald Reagan biopic starring Dennis Quaid), that’s what they’ll get. Stapp will play the legendary singer (as first reported by Billboard and SPIN can confirm) in the upcoming Sean McNamara-directed film. The cast also includes the talented Penelope Ann Miller, Kevin Dillon (better known as everyone’s favorite handsome brother in Entourage), and ancient actor-turned-Trump supporter, Jon Voight. It’s an odd cast, but maybe that’s just what the doctor ordered to kick off Stapp’s acting career. Either way, the experienced frontman is excited to portray such a legendary artist on the...

Creed Drummer Says Band May Reunite

Former Creed drummer Scott Phillips – a member of AlterBridge, along with ex-Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti and bassist Brian Marshall since 2004 – has said that Creed’s reforming is a “possibility.” That’s not a threat either. In the Nov. 4 interview with site audioinkradio.com, the drummer gave a nebulous quote informing that there’s “always talk every now and then of the possibility of us getting back together and doing some stuff.” The journalist, Anne Erickson, asked Phillips about a potential reunion since Creed recently updated their social media with a classic photo. Phillips was unaware of that move by his former band, replying, “That’s interesting. I’m the worst when it comes to social media. We’re all in a good spot right now where we feel like we have a good relationsh...

President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked to reverse the order of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on the movement of agricultural produce, livestock, goods and services in Rivers State. The call was made on Saturday by the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, which noted that the IGP had set up a Joint Technical Task Force at the instance of the Federal Ministries of Agricultural and Rural Development, Defence, Environment as well as various security agencies, to ensure free and unhindered movement of food, livestock, agricultural inputs and others into the State. The State Chairman of the Council, King Dandeson Jaja, speaking on behalf of the council in Port Harcourt wondered why the IGP would unilaterally lift the ban on the Presidential order restricting interstate movement...
