Akwa Ibom enforces compulsory use of facemasks in rural communities
Akwa Ibom State Government said it has directed the state Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal, to enforce compulsory use of facemask in all the rural communities in the State. The Secretary to State Government and Chairman, COVID-19 Management Committee, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, who announced this on Monday during a press briefing at government house, noted that government instructed village heads, youth presidents and local government council chairmen to ensure compliance. The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi, has raised the alarm that his police escort has been withdrawn on the order of the state Police Commissioner, Mr Bolaji Salami. The deputy governor has been in the centre of the crisis in recent times after his defection from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party. Suspected killer of UniJos lecturer nabbed as kidnapped daughter rescued
One of the suspected killers of Dr Mandi Drenkat, a lecturer with the University of Jos has been arrested at the Babale area of Jos North local government area of Plateau State. The suspect, identified as Ali Mohammed was arrested with one AK 47 rifle and a kidnap victim in their den named Chiboze Joseph rescued unhurt. It would be recalled that the late Dr Drenkat was shot in his home at the University of Jos Senior Staff Quarters on Friday night and his six years old daughter kidnapped but subsequently rescued by the Police.
