Legendary rocker Meat Loaf passed away at age 74 last week, and while his official cause of death has not been confirmed, TMZ reported that the singer succumbed to COVID-19. Now, radio titan Howard Stern is blaming the music icon’s death on his apparent stance against masking and vaccines, asserting that “Meat Loaf got sucked into some weird f**king cult.” Upon reporting on Meat Loaf’s death, TMZ cited sources as revealing that he fell seriously ill with COVID, and that his condition became critical, eventually leading to his passing. During the pandemic, the singer had spoken out against social distancing and safety measures. In an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in August of 2021, Meat Loaf said, “[Face masks] don’t do anything. They don’t stop you from getting COVID. They’re ...

Kid Rock seems to really want to make love to Dr. Anthony Fauci, judging by his less-than-polite vocabulary on “We the People,” a new anti-science track with a “Let’s go Brandon” chorus. This jingoistic circle-jerk gives rightwing talking points a vigorous rubdown, though it’s more concerned with ‘lol memes’ than making the song listenable. In addition to his amorous offer to Fauci, Kid Rock attempts to clown the scientific community with, “‘Wear your mask, take your pills’/ Now a whole generation’s mentally ill,” though it’s unclear what these pills are — perhaps he got it confused with horse paste? This isn’t the only time he approaches facts like a terrier might approach a fire hydrant. He rap-sings, “Inflation’s up, like the minimum wage,” the latter of which would be welcome news to m...

The Spokesman-Review spoke to Stockton, who confirmed that Gonzaga’s decision was based on his refusal to wear a mask. Stockton said Gonzaga Athletic Director Chris Standiford notified him of the university’s decision in a conversation the Naismith Basketball Memorial Hall of Fame point guard d...
Neil Young has relaunched his crusade against Spotify, though this time, it’s not about audio quality. The rock veteran has asked the streaming giant to remove his music from the platform, citing “fake information about vaccines” the company has allowed to spread. Young delivered the request in an open letter to his management and record label, though the letter seems to have been removed from his website. Per Rolling Stone, however, Young writes: “I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines — potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them. Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.” “I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform,” You...
With Fugees, “Ready or Not” somehow always turns out to be “Not.” The much-anticipated reunion tour marking the 25th anniversary of The Score had already been postponed once, but now it’s been officially cancelled, as the pioneering hip-hop group cited concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel were originally scheduled to hit the road last November, but as COVID entered its winter surge, the start date was pushed back to February 2022. This time, Fugees aren’t even rescheduling. “We anticipate and understand disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen,” they said in a social media statement. “The continued COVID pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and oursel...
Appearing before the House Small Business Committee this week, representatives of the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) said they were seeing “no-show rates as high as 50%.” Via Billboard, Raeanne Presley, NIVA member and co-owner of Presleys’ Theater in Branson, MO, explained that smaller venues are suffering during an unprecedented lack of consumer confidence. “Today, the roller coaster ride of the pandemic continues,” she said. “Traditionally, about 5% of ticket buyers don’t attend performances, but now, sagging consumer confidence is causing national no-show rates as high as 50%. This is devastating because most of our venues rely on in-house sales to pay core bills.” In other words, while ticket purchases are important, food, beverages, and other extras help keep the ...

Nightlife will reportedly soon return to one of the world’s top clubbing destinations, Ibiza. According to a report by Diario de Ibiza, a number of nightlife and tourism officials have confirmed plans for the island’s nightclubs to return in April 2022. The onset and impact of COVID-19 decimated Ibiza’s nightlife sector, which hasn’t been fully open since 2019. “The idea is that the opening will be at the end of April, two weeks ahead of what is normally done,” said José Luis Benítez, Manager of the Ibiza Leisure Association, per Diario. He added that the hope is to persist until November if “all goes well,” which would signal the longest clubbing season in White Isle history.
