Ireland’s Reopening Plan Could Allow Socially Distanced Festivals as Early as August

As more and more governments continue discussions regarding how to ease their country’s restrictions imposed due to the global pandemic, Ireland has released its five-phase, 23-page plan to reopen the country. Within the document, they’ve specifically identified guidelines on the return of festivals.  The first phase of the Irish government’s plan will allow small groups of up to four to interact outdoors, while abiding by social distancing guidelines, beginning on May 18th. If things go smoothly, each phase could last roughly three weeks. This timeframe would lead to the fifth phase of their plan beginning in August, allowing Electric Picnic Festival to take place the following month. Gombe discharges 20 coronavirus patients after testing negative

Gombe State has discharged 20 COVID-19 patients out of 109 cases in isolation centres across the state after they tested negative twice. Prof. Idris Mohammed the Chairman of the State Task Force on COVID-19, made the disclosure at a news briefing on Friday in Gombe. Mohammed, who was represented by Dr Ahmed Gana, the state’s Commissioner for Health, said that the 20 patients were discharged following directive from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). “We are happy to inform the general public that NCDC has given us go ahead to discharge a total of 20 cases under our isolation facilities. “Ten from Kwadon Isolation facility and the second 10 were from Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) Gombe Isolation center,” he said. Ekiti governor considers establishment of coronavirus test laboratory

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has hinted of a plan to establish COVID-19 Laboratory to facilitate massive testing of residents. The governor also disclosed that blood samples of illegal immigrants to the state are been taking for test . Tokyo Game Show 2020 Cancelled due to COVID-19

The organisers of the Tokyo Game Show have announced that this year’s event has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. TGS 2020 was scheduled to take place from 24 to 27 September at the Makuhari Messe convention centre just outside of Tokyo, Japan. Now, the organisers are planning to host an online event instead. The Verge reports that this is the first-ever time TGS has faced cancellation since the convention began in 1996. Sadly, this news won’t come as a surprise to anyone.
