Maren Morris glittered like a star during her performance of “The Bones” at the 2020 CMA Awards on Wednesday (Nov. 11). The singer, sparkling in a sequined deep-cut V-neck gown, began her hit song with the image of a crescent moon behind her, her five backing band members performing from socially distanced spots on stage alongside her. “When the bones are good, the rest don’t matter/ Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter/ Let it rain ’cause you and I remain the same,” sang the 30-year-old, who had already won two trophies when she took the stage to perform. “When there ain’t a crack in the foundation/ Baby, I know any storm we’re facing/ Will blow right over while we stay put/ The house don’t fall when the bones are ...

Home Telecom Broadband penetration in Nigeria increased to 45.43 per cent by the end of October 2020, the Federal Government announced on Wednesday. Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, said the rise was due to an increase of 4,061,731 broadband subscriptions between September and October 2020. He said the implementation of the National Digital Economy Policy led to the rise in broadband subscriptions across the country during the review month. Pantami, who disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja by his Technical Assistant, Information Technology, Femi Adeluyi, observed that the Nigerian National Broadband Plan 2020-2025 had impacted significantly on broadband penetration. The minister noted that the plan was implemented alongside the harmonisation of Right-of...

The Kelly Clarkson Show viewers looked at Kelly Clarkson through neon green and blue light beams during her latest Kellyoke cover of Pam Tillis‘ “Maybe It Was Memphis.” Her dulcet vocals sure felt right to take over this ’90s country track, which joins her covers of Jo Dee Messina’s “Heads Carolina, Tails California” and Wynonna‘s “No One Else on Earth” from the last couple of months. “Maybe it was Memphis/ Maybe it was southern summer nights/ Maybe it was you, maybe it was me/ But it sure felt right,” Clarkson bellows for the chorus. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Tuesday dismissed mounting insinuation of possible scarcity of petroleum products following ongoing disagreement between the Federal Government and members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) on the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). Dr. Kennie Obateru, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the Corporation, quoted Mallam Mele Kyari as saying, in a release, that the industrial action embarked upon by PENGASSAN would not lead to scarcity of petroleum products as all fuel stations and petrol depots in the country have enough stock of products to service consumers and are open for business. While expressing hope that the industrial dispute wo...
In an apparent reference to President Donald Trump’s refusal to accept defeat, former US First Lady and Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, has said the willingness of American Presidents to accept defeat distinguishes American democracy. She said this in post on her Facebook page, where she posted a letter written by then outgoing President George H W Bush to then incoming President Bill Clinton, in 1993. “Here’s how it’s done in America, “she wrote. Continuing, the former presidential candidate said: ‘This is the gracious letter George H.W. Bush left for Bill in the Oval Office on the day of Bill’s inauguration.” Quoting the letter, she said:”Your success now is our country’s success,” President Bush wrote. “I am rooting hard for you.”” “Since the very beginning, American presidents ...
A former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, says over 200,000 police officers were attached to political elites, a practice he termed “policing the elites against policing security spaces.” He spoke at the second edition of the National Dialogue series of the Political Leadership and Training Institute (POLA) of former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel held in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital. “We have about 400,000 police personnel in Nigeria and 200,000 of those officers are with the political elites. What we are doing in this country is that, we are policing the elites, we are not policing security spaces and this is an issue we have to look into”, Arase added. Arase attributed the challenges facing the police to lack of political will to implement reports of many re...
