Gunmen abduct graduate, one other in Ondo community

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have created tension in Ikaram Akoko, in Akoko North West council area of Ondo State, following the abduction of two residents of the community including a graduate, identified as Gbodi. It was gathered that the two victims were abducted within 24 hours in the community while the abductors of one of the victims demanded N10m to secure the freedom of the victim. Gbodi, the HND graduate, was abducted along Okeagbe Ikaram highway while returning from his farm which is few kilometres from his residence, Ikaram, the other victim was kidnapped very close to where some construction workers were abducted recently along Ikaram/Akunu highway. NOA sensitises Oyo residents ahead of council election

File Photo The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has embarked on sensitisation of residents of some local government areas in Oyo State, ahead of the May 22 council elections. Kidnappers demand N100 million ransom for abducted Kogi council boss

The Kogi State Government has assured the family of abducted chairman of Yagba West local government council, Hon. Pius Kolawole, of its commitment to ensure his release. In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, in Lokoja on Monday, the state government assured citizens of its avowed commitment to make Kogi the safest state in the country. Soldiers destroy illegal refinery in Rivers

News Agency of Nigeria Soldiers of the 144 Battalion, Asa, Ukwa West council area of Abia State, have reportedly destroyed an illegal oil refinery located in Odogba community in Rivers State. Newsmen gathered that the operation was carried out in conjunction with the operatives of the Department of the State Services ,DSS, on joint patrol within Owaza area,a boundary community between the two States. AMAC chief signs over N10 billion appropriation bill into law

AMAC Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman, Abdullahi Candido, has signed the Council’s 2021 appropriation bill of over N10 billion to law. He said the legislators have in consideration of some important issues and reviewed the budget upward. Candido made this known at the AMAC Secretariat in Abuja while signing the bill into law. He, however, assured residents within the council area that the budget will give priority attention to existing projects, while also taking care of other things. Candido also appealed to Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to release shares of the internally generated revenue due to the Area Councils. Police uncover mutilated body of woman killed by teenage nephew for ritual in Delta

Police detectives in the Delta State Police Command have arrested members of a money ritual syndicate who abducted, killed and mutilated the body of a 39-year-old woman while on her way back from a farm at Obiarukwu in Ukwani council area. The prime suspect in the murder of Joy Osameze, identified as Emmanuel Ejibe (18), who is said to be the nephew of the deceased, supposedly masterminded the crime and led other gang members to lay an ambush for her while returning from Abraka Farm Reserve. Angry mob set three armed robbers ablaze in Delta

Three suspected armed robbers were set ablaze by an angry mob early Tuesday morning, along Okumagba Avenue in the Warri South council area of Delta state. Newsmen learnt that two of the suspects were burnt at Emebiren Junction, close to the popular Robinson Plaza, while the other one was lynched at Eburu Junction. Declaring the results at Isi-Uzo council headquarters in Ikem, INEC Collation Officer for the bye-election, Chukwuemeka Nwachukwu, said that Mrs Ugwueze polled 11,041 votes to defeat her close rival, Ejiofor Okwor, candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 2,293 votes. IPOB warns Nigerian government to stop harassment of members

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday, told the Federal Government to halt “the incessant harassment and arrest of its members and their families in South-East.” It also called on South-East and South-South governors, particularly Ebonyi State government, to prevail on the security agents in their states to release IPOB and their family members, particularly its Ebonyi State Coordinator, Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya, without further delay.
