Widows of John Prine, Nick Cordero Slam Trump’s “Don’t Be Afraid of COVID” Tweets

Nick Cordero and Amanda Kloots (photo via Instagram/@amandakloots); Fiona Whelan Prine and John Prine (photo via Instagram/@fprine); and Donald Trump If anything good were to come from Donald Trump contracting COVID-19, it would have been a change in messaging from the White House. Instead — and completely unsurprisingly — he’s still downplaying the pandemic in complete defiance of reality. Now, the widows of two prominent individuals who have died from COVID-19 are slamming Trump for his callous tweets about the dangers of the disease. Shortly before being discharged from Walter Reed on Monday after just a two-day stay, Trump tweeted, “Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I fe...

National Independent Venue Association Begs Government to Save Concert Industry from “Mass Collapse”

Today, Donald Trump halted all negotiations with Congress regarding further COVID-19 relief until after the election. The abrupt political move, which come across like the actions of a manic drugged up on steroids, will undoubtedly impose even more financial hardship on a country that’s already months-deep into an economic crisis. The National Independent Venue Association, having already suffered major losses the last few months — including the shuttering of Washington, DC’s iconic U Street Music Hall just yesterday — has now responded to Trump’s decision. “We have been sounding the alarm since April that if our members don’t get emergency assistance, they will go under forever — and it’s happening,” said Audrey Fix Schaefer, director of communications for NIVA. “This is real. We nee...

Kim Kardashian Details How She Cared For Kanye West During His Battle With Rona

Source: Pierre Suu / Getty Kim Kardashian West is a real one. The bootleg presidential candidate’s shared details about Yeezy’s battle with COVID-19 and how she helped him. During his ridiculous Forbes interview, West claimed that he caught the ‘rona, but at the time, most people just chalked it up to him speaking nonsense. Well, it would appear that Yeezy was indeed sick with the highly contagious virus, his wife, Kim Kardashian West, revealed. In an interview with GRAZIA, Kardashian detailed how she took care of her husband while he was battling the coronavirus. No one had any clue what the virus was at that particular moment. “Kanye had it way at the beginning, when nobody really knew what was going on.” “It was so scary and unknown.” Kardashian West detailed how she cared for her husba...

Indie Venues Devastated After Trump Kills Stimulus Talks: ‘This Is Real. We Need Help’

“It’s devastatingly horrible news,” says Stephen Chilton with the Rebel Lounge in Phoenix. “More venues are going to close — I think the reason we haven’t seen even more venues shut down is because everyone is holding out hope that Save Our Stages passes. I’m not sure how much longer people can hold on — there’s rent, there’s debt obligations and there’s a lot of costs. It’s already been six months with zero revenue.” The news came as a major disappointment for two major independent arts associations who were encouraged last week when Pelosi announced that the Save Our Stages Act would be included in the $2.2 trillion Heroes Act. Save Our Stages would have provided up to $18 million to any independent music ...

Jurassic World: Dominion Delayed to Summer 2022

Life finds a way … as do big summer blockbusters amidst a pandemic. Alas, Universal and Amblin Entertainment have announced that they’re delaying the release of Jurassic World: Dominion by a whole year. The highly anticipated sequel will stomp away from its July 11th, 2021 release date all the way to June 10th, 2022. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dominion is “a huge priority for NBCUniversal” that involves “theme park tie-ins, merchandising partnerships, live events and more.” With so much uncertainty going into 2021, the two parties “want to ensure that deadlines for retail partners can be met.” Production is currently underway at London’s Pinewood Studios and reportedly three weeks away from completion. Back in August, the expansive shoot was profiled by The New York Times for bei...

Regal to Close All 536 Theaters in the US, AMC Vows to Stay Open

Regal Cinemas, the second-largest movie chain in America, will once again close its doors due to challenges posed by the pandemic. At the same time, Regal’s chief rival and America’s largest theater chain, AMC, vowed to stay open. Regal’s parent company, Cineworld, announced Monday that it will suspend operations at all 536 of its US movie theaters beginning this Thursday. The company specifically cited the dearth of upcoming releases as the main reason for the decision. In recent days, major blockbusters including James Bond’s No Time to Die and Dune have been pushed back to 2021. “Without these new releases, Cineworld cannot provide customers in both the US and UK — the company’s primary markets — with the breadth of strong commercial films necessary fo them to consider coming back to th...

Kanye West Offers Prayers After Trump Announces COVID-19 Diagnosis

Source: SEBASTIAN SMITH / Getty Kanye West is asking for civility from the masses after Donald Trump announced that he and his wife tested positive for COVID-19. On Saturday (Oct. 3), the “Birthday Party” candidate took to Twitter to tweet out his well wishes to the current First Family, before noting that he would have done the same thing if Joe and Jill Biden were on the receiving end as well. West who recently unannounced then reannounced his Presidential bid, while still remaining relatively quiet on the political front, also called for “civility across the board” before asking that the nation “come together.” “There’s a crying need for civility across the board. We need to and will come together in the name of Jesus,” Kanye tweeted. “I’m praying for President Trump’s and Melania’s ful...

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Gets Delayed Until Late 2021

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune practically broke the Internet last month when the epic first trailer was revealed. But now, that hype will have to stretch another year, as the sci-fi blockbuster has been delayed until October 1st, 2021, reports Collider. That’s a significantly later date than Warner Bros. originally planned, which suggests two things: executives’ hearts are set on a fourth quarter release, the pandemic isn’t loosening its grip anytime soon, or both. While a handful of North American movie theaters have been cautiously reopening in recent months, the latest increase in COVID-19 cases has caused many to shutter their doors once again. While Frank Herbert’s beloved novel and its historically troubled feature films never fared well at the box office, Villeneuve’s Dune adaption seems ...

COVID-19 Lockdown 2.0: Mayor Bill De Blasio Shutting Everything Down In 9 NYC Zip Codes

Source: Spencer Platt / Getty With fall officially here, COVID-19 is reminding New York City residents that it hasn’t gone anywhere. New York City was once the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, but thanks to measures implemented and residents for the most part abiding by them, NYC was able to push the virus back. BUT, experts warned for months that a resurgence was highly likely, and that looks like it will be the case as New York enters the fall season with winter right around the corner. NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio announced On Sunday (Oct.5) that a COVID-19 lockdown will see the closing of daycares, public schools, and nonessential businesses beginning on Wednesday (Oct.7) in hopes of stopping the concerning uptick of COVID-19 cases in 9 NYC neighborhoods. Trump Supporters Play Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” Outside Military Hospital

Because the whole Donald Trump has COVID-19 thing isn’t enough of a fiasco, the president’s supporters had to drag Bruce Springsteen into this. A small group of MAGA sycophants stood outside Walter Reed Medical Center on Sunday to show their love for Trump — by playing “Born in the USA”. To emphasize for what has to be the bajillionth time, “Born in the USA” is not a pro-patriotism song. It’s a lament for a country addicted to feeding its working class populace into pointless wars, only to leave them neglected once they return. So the fact that these people were blasting this protest song outside of a military hospital, where actual members and veterans of the military are trying to rest and be cared for, crosses irony over to actual ignorant cruelty. That’s without even mentioning Springs...

Lana Del Rey Criticized for Wearing Mesh Face Mask

Lana Del Rey is drawing criticism for her choice of face wear during a recent indoor book signing. Earlier this week, Del Rey appeared at a Los Angeles Barnes and Noble to sign copies of her new poetry book, Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass. As photos and videos posted to Del Rey’s own Instagram show, the singer opted to wear a mesh face mask. With hundreds of tiny little holes, the covering offered Del Rey little in the way of protection during the COVID-19 pandemic, but at least it was sparkly! Not surprisingly, Del Rey was immediately hammered on social media. “Lana Del Rey wearing a face mask // a random Karen wearing a face mask,” read one comment posted to her Instagram. Another read, “What is wrong with Lana del Rey like she’s literally not okay why is she wearing a fishnet mask...
