Fans rallied to the late Coolio’s music catalog and sent it surging 264.3% in the wake after his death. The rapper, born Artis Ivey, Jr. died Sept. 28 at age 59 due to suspected cardiac arrest. His most popular hit – “Gangsta’s Paradise,” featuring L.V. – led the way in both streams and sales, and the former Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 returns to the charts this week. Coolio died on Wednesday (Sept. 28) in Los Angeles, California. He was 59 years old. According to TMZ, who first reported the news, the rapper, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr. was found dead on the bathroom floor at his friend’s house, and paramedics initially suspect that he suffered cardiac arrest.
