Appeal court president inaugurates special court sitting 270 cases in Jos
The President of the Court of Appeal, Hon Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, has organised a special court sitting in Jos where about 270 Motions and Appeals would be addressed for quick dispensation of justice. Justice Dongban-Mensem disclosed this on Monday during the inauguration of the special court sitting, held at the Court of Appeal Jos Division, Plateau State. She noted that the essence of the special sitting was to ensure quick dispensation of justice over motions and Appeals that have not been heard. She described the special sitting which started from Abuja, Lagos and Jos as apt and said any Court of Appeal Division that apply for the special court sitting would be given the opportunity. Kano: Teenager nabbed for ‘stabbing’ brother’s pregnant wife
The police in Kano State have confirmed that the arrest of a 15-year-old boy, who allegedly stabbed his brother’s 25-year-old wife with a knife. This is contained in a statement issued by DSP Abdullahi Haruna, the Command Spokesman in Kano. He said that the ofence, took place on Tuesday in Maidille Quarters in Kano. ”At about 11 p.m, a complaint was received that the suspect allegedly stabbed Mrs Habiba Isah, who was eight months pregnant, with knife. ” Upon receiving the report, the police visited the scene and the victim was evacuated to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where she was admitted and the unborn child was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor,” he said. Kaduna: Police arrest three for criminal conspiracy, incitement, abduction
The Police Command in Kaduna State said on Friday that it had arrested three suspects for criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbances and abduction in the state. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, confirmed this in a statement in Kaduna. Jalige said that on March 22, at about 08000hrs, the command received a complaint through DPO Zonkwa from a citizen of Fadere village, Lere Local Government Area of the state. Police nab five for stealing N55 million cocoa export consignment
The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has arrested five persons, Lawal Abiola; Afeez Rasaq; Akeem Gbolahan; Idowu Jelili and Safiriyu Oyebanji over alleged involvement in the stealing of a 40-foot container of Cocoa worth N55 million meant for export to the United States of America, USA. The Federal Government has appealed to Resident Doctors to shelve their threat of embarking on a nationwide strike in the country.
