Peace summit suggests ways to end Southern Kaduna crisis

The Southern Kaduna Peace Summit has stressed the urgent need for leaders at all levels of government to avoid taking sides and be impartial judges on any issue that has to do with the crisis in the Southern part of the state. The peace summit noted that pronouncements and conducts by some government officials and reports by the media escalate tensions within the social space. Residents count losses as flood ravages Kaduna communities

Residents in some Kaduna communities have continued to count their losses as their homes were overtaken on Saturday over by flood. The constant rainfalls have made several communities in Kaduna metropolis and environs suffer damages following a heavy downpour that resulted in flooding which submerged some houses, farmlands and destroyed properties. Some of the affected communities include Abubakar Kigo road, Barnawa, Kudenda, Ungwar Dosa, Angwar Rimi, Malali areas among others. Group tasks multinational oil companies on social responsibility

Oil/Gas Multinational Companies operating in Eastern Obolo local government area of Akwa-Ibom state have been urged to stand up to their Corporate Social Responsibility to host communities. Mr Iroigak Ikaan, a former Commissioner for Lands and Housing in the state, made the call during a stakeholders meeting organised by Utono Obolo in Uyo the state capital. Utono Obolo is a non-political pressure group with membership drawn from Andoni and Eastern Obolo local government areas of Rivers and Akwa Ibom states. Saving One Million Lives Programme for Result (SMOL P for R), a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) has lamented some of the non challant attitudes of some beneficiary communities of the various projects it is implementing in Yobe state. Dr. Babagana Abba, State Programme Manager SMOL P for R expressed concern while receiving an NGO, Spotlight for Transparency and Accountability Initiative which paid him a courtesy visit in Damaturu. Herders in Ebonyi now to carry identity cards – deputy governor

The Ebonyi Government on Tuesday directed that all the herders in the state should henceforth carry identity cards to help in identifying them in the event of any crime. The Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe, announced the new directive while briefing newsmen on the outcome of a special security meeting convened by Gov. David Umahi at the Government House, Abakiliki.
