Police ask Governor Wike to handover ex-NDDC chief
Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, has called on Governor Nyesom Wike to handover former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Joy Nunieh, to him. On Thursday, July 17, 2020, Governor Wike stopped police operatives from arresting Nunieh from her residence. The governor, who argued that the police had no arrest warrant, thereafter took Nunieh under protective custody in Government House, Port Harcourt. Police arrest 28 for crimes, kill two robbery suspects in Edo
The Edo state Police Command said it arrested 28 suspects for various crimes within the last few weeks. Mr Johnson Kokumo, Commissioner of Police in Edo disclosed this on Thursday, in Benin while briefing the media on the Command’s “modest” achievements. According to Kokumo, 15 suspects were arrested for alleged armed robbery, while six were arrested for alleged cultism. He also said that four suspects were arrested for alleged murder and three suspects for kidnapping. He also said that two suspected armed robbers were shot dead by the command. Police order arrest of fake coronavirus taskforce in Anambra
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang, has ordered the arrest of illegal task force teams claiming to be enforcing COVID-19 measures including wearing of face masks in the state. Police nab eight suspects for rape, sodomy in Kebbi
The Police Command in Kebbi has arrested seven suspected rapists and one for sodomy in the state. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Agunbiade Oluyemi-Lasore, made this known while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday. Oluyemi-Lasore, said that the arrests were made from May to June, adding that the period under review was challenging and eventful for the command. Ogun police framed us as land-grabbers – community leader
The Akinrogun of Meiran land, Chief Joseph Ayodele, whom the Ogun State Police Command claimed to be the leader of a land-grabbing gang, has refuted the claim. Newsmen had reported that Rufai Abdulkareem, Tobi Ajayi and Wasiu Oladipupo were arrested by the police for allegedly shooting at seven workers on a construction site in the state. Family members of a missing 22-year-old man, Arinze Obiukwu, are asking the Rivers State Police Command to put pressure on a local vigilance group popularly known as OSPAC in Elele Ikwerre Local Government Area to produce him dead or alive. NDLEA: How drug traffickers operate during coronavirus lockdown
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has revealed how traffickers of illicit drugs have been circulating cocaine, heroin, cannabis and other psychotropic substances in Borno amid the COVID-19 lockdown. Woman hacked to death in Ibadan
A 42-year-old woman, Olusayo Fagbemi, has been reportedly murdered in the early hours of Wednesday by unknown assailants at Sasa community in the Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State. Fagbemi was reported to have been killed while washing plates in front of her house around 5:40am. It was learnt that her neighbours were attracted to the scene by Fagbemi’s cry for help. On getting to the scene, she was seen struggling in the pool of her blood and later confirmed dead in the hospital. Police confirm three killed in suspected herdsmen attack in Benue
The Police Command in Benue, on Sunday, confirmed that suspected herdsmen attacked and killed three persons at Adama village in Agatu Local Government Area of the state. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the attack in a statement in Makurdi. Anene described Adama village as a riverine community in Agatu with no motorable roads. Operatives of the Delta Police Command, on Saturday, recovered a Toyota Camry car containing two AK47 rifles, two cut-to-size locally-made pistols and several live ammunition. The metallic green-colour Toyota Camry, with registration number EFR 289 DC was recovered by men of the Enerhen Police Division, Warri. along the ever-busy Udu road in Udu Local Government Area.
