Tokyo Ghost Comic Book to Get Movie Adaptation from Cary Fukunaga
Tokyo Ghost, the futuristic sci-fi comic book series released in 2015 by Image Comics, is being adapted into a feature film. No Time to Die director Cary Fukunaga is onboard to helm the movie and the series’ author, Rick Remender, will pen the script. Set in 2089 when humanity is addicted to technology, Tokyo Ghost follows the story of Debbie Decay and Led Dent, two peacekeepers in the Isles of Los Angeles, who are assigned a job that will take them to the last tech-free country on the planet: the garden nation of Tokyo. New Mutants Co-Creator Slams Movie Adaptation After His Name Gets Misspelled in Credits
After years of waiting, The New Mutants has finally been released — in theaters, no less! The wait apparently doesn’t seem to have been really worth it, if early reviews are to be believed. One viewer who’s certainly unhappy is New Mutants co-creator Bob McLeod, the original artist on the comic book written by the legendary Chris Claremont. Not only is he displeased with how his characters look on the big screen, he’s understandably pissed that his name is misspelled in the credits. In a Facebook post, McLeod vented his dismay. James Gunn Reveals Characters and First Teaser Trailer for The Suicide Squad: Watch
James Gunn has shared the first teaser trailer for The Suicide Squad and revealed new characters from the star-studded cast. The unveiling took place during DC’s virtual FanDome on Saturday. Gunn himself hosted a panel, and with a bit of pomp and ceremony he announced the villainous roles played by previously-announced actors. The big news is that Idris Elba will be inhabiting Bloodsport, a Lex Luthor associate. During a Q&A/trivia section, it was also revealed that Bloodsport in the film is spending time in jail for shooting Superman. This is the biggest plot drop from the panel, and it’s actually pulled right from the comic books. Olivia Wilde Directing Spider-Woman Movie for Sony: Report
It looks like the web of silver screen spider-people is about to get a little larger. Olivia Wilde has reportedly signed on to direct and develop a secret Marvel project for Sony, and rumors have it that it’s a Spider-Woman movie. While Sony hasn’t confirmed exactly what the project is, Wilde did hint at a spider-related character with a simple tweeted emoji. Deadline reports that Katie Silberman, who wrote Wilde’s breakout directorial debut Booksmart, is penning the script. Amy Pascal, who has long spearheaded Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters, is producing alongside executive producer Rachel O’Connor. At this point, I’d be cautious to take news coming out about any cinematic Superman with a grain of salt, but here’s the latest: Henry Cavill is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as the Man of Steel in future DC Extended Universe films. Deadline broke the story, noting that “sources with knowledge” of the situation say Warner Bros. is trying to bring Cavill back for multiple DC movies. However, one of those is not a standalone sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel. Instead, Cavill’s Superman would appear in supporting or cameo roles in other characters’ movies, with many comparing the arrangement to something like Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
