Source: Johnny Louis – WENN / WENN What’s the best way to troll a racist real estate “tycoon” turned Divider-In-Chief? Why, you paint “Black Lives Matter” in front of his 58 floor skyscraper of course! According to the New York Daily News, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has greenlit the painting of “Black Lives Matter” in giant yellow letters in front of Trump Tower on Fifth Ave between 56th and 57th streets in Midtown Manhattan and Cheeto Jesus is cursing the heavens for the move. After news of the sign being painted in front of his property broke, Donald Trump took to Twitter to blast the move but instead of admitting that it bothered him personally he projected his anger unto the officers of the NYPD. Early yesterday morning Trump tweeted, “Told that @NYCMayor Bill de Blasio wants t...
Source: Twitter / Twitter While Black people are fighting for equality all over the globe, reports of hate crimes and suspicious murders of young Black people are on the rise. The latest incident has left a Wisconsin community saying enough is enough. On Wednesday (Jun 24), Althea Bernstein, a Black woman in Madison, Wisconsin, sustained second and third-degree burns after she was allegedly set on fire by white men yelling racial slurs while at a stoplight. The 18-year-old EMT, who is studying to be a paramedic and firefighter, says she was on her way to her brother’s house at around 1 am on Wednesday morning when the incident occurred. Bernstein stated that she saw four white men, one of whom used a spray bottle to shoot liquid onto her face and neck. Someone then allegedly threw a f...

On Thursday (Jun 26), Abiola Oke took to social media to respond to allegations that he subjected Black women employees to a hostile working environment. As previously reported, the news of the ill-treatment was exposed after former staff writer Antionette Isama took to social media to air out grievances for the Black women who worked for the organization and were subjected to lower pay, inappropriate behavior, gaslighting, and sabotage among other grievances. Oke responded to the allegations via Twitter with a seven-page letter, apologizing for the unfair practices before noting that he has alw...
Source: JC Olivera / Getty At a time when companies across the company are reckoning with their toxic work cultures, media companies are now on the chopping block for their role in treating employees of color and women unfairly and subjecting them to abuse. According to published reports, Complex is now under scrutiny by former staffers for perpetuating what they describe as a racist and sexist workplace, with many speaking out despite their nondisclosure agreements. In an open letter posted to Twitter, former employee Tiffany Wines wrote about the “daily microaggressions Complex culture is notorious for,” and specifically called for the resignation of senior employees, Jay Salim and Arman Walia. “Complex Networks would and could not exist without Black art, Black consumers, and Blac...
Source: Breonna Taylor / Breonna Taylor A detective involved in the murder of Breonna Taylor has been fired. On Tuesday (Jun 23), the Louisville Chief of Police announced the firing of one of the three officers involved in the murder of EMT Breonna Taylor in her home back in March. According to NBC, to Louisville Metro Police Department detective Brett Hankison, chief Robert J. Schroeder said that the detective violated department rules, procedures, and deadly force standards when Taylor was killed. The letter calls out the officers for not only not following protocol to execute the warrant but also for utilizing the no-knock method on March 13, but also for “wantonly and blindly” firing 10 rounds, Schroeder wrote. “These rounds created a substantial danger of death and serious injury...
Source: @garychambersjr / Instagram If you’re a Baton Rouge School Board member, it’s a good idea not to be shopping online during a meeting with your constituents. Louisiana’s Connie Bernard learned this the hard way when she got dragged for all the filth by an eloquent and fiery Black activist named Gary Chambers Jr. Reportedly, the District 8 school board meeting was to discuss the removal of the Lee name from Lee High School, which was already a barely sanitized removal of the Robert E. Lee name. In case you haven’t been paying attention, odes to Confederate traitors are no longer the wave. When brother Chambers took to the mic on Thursday (June 18), he was ready, and had all the time. He called out the racism of Connie Bernard being spotted shopping online while the public was airing ...
Source: Twitter / Twitter At a time when Black people are still being killed by police and protesters are being tear gassed and tazed, a white female officer is asking for the public to go easy on police after a local McDonald’s had a delay with her food. In a tearful rant posted online, the unidentified woman who appears to be an officer in the state of Georgia is appearing to be in a parking lot, although it’s unclear if she was still at the fast food chain where the delay occurred waiting on her food or a manager—detailing the “difficult” situation. “I got to the 2nd window to get my food. I am waiting, and I am waiting,” the woman said. “The girl comes to the window and asks me what my order was. I repeat my order and my coffee. Um. Order. And they ask me to pull up because my food is ...
Source: YouTube / Youtube Just when we all thought Brooklyn couldn’t get more gentrified, a colonizer from God knows where took issue with something that wouldn’t be an issue during the days of Big Poppa. This week in what was once known as “Do or Die” Bed-Stuy, a Trump-supporting neighborhood transplant, Abraham “Avrumy” Knofler took issue with a “Black Lives Matter” sign being posted at the Burly Coffee/Better Read Than Dead cafe in Brooklyn. “Avrumy” demanded that the sign be taken down before trying to educate the worker and everyone in attendance that “all lives matter.” Holding up the line and claiming that the BLM sign “caused the whole problem” of people arguing outside the shop’s window, the seemingly 6-months pregnant Knofler had no problem recording his entire rant about the sig...
Source: Julia Beverly / Radio One Digital Atlanta is painted as a Black utopia with its affluent and successful Black establishments, cultural exporting significance in entertainment and celebrity, and the city’s black ass leadership with a mayor named Keisha. Some, like rapper T.I., affectionately describe it as a real-world Wakanda, partly because Black Panther was filmed there, but in reality, the underbelly of the city led by Black mayors for almost 50 years is quite seedy. George Floyd’s very public execution at the hands of the Minneapolis police galvanized the Black Lives Matter movement in the Twin Cities but Georgia natives were still reeling from the loss of Ahmaud Arbery, who was murdered by white supremacists while jogging in Brunswick, Ga. As the nation became inflamed over wi...

Mayor Muriel Bowser’s decision to rename 16th Street Black Lives Matter Blvd and painting “Black Lives Matter” in huge letters on the concrete was truly a thing of beauty, and now it seems like Brooklyn will be blessed with a similar treatment. Source: Atlanta PD / Atlanta PD The murder of Rayshard Brooks sent shockwaves through an already exhausted community, sparking more protests but police are looking for one woman who decided to take protests one step further. According to published reports, police are looking for a masked unidentified white woman who they claim was responsible for burning down the Wendy’s location where 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks was murdered at the hands of police after falling asleep at the drive-thru window. On Sunday (Jun 14) the Atlanta Police Department (APD) released photos and videos of a masked white woman “attempting to hide her identity,” they believe is the arson who set the fire that ravaged University Avenue fast-food restaurant, before adding that information on other suspects is also welcom...

(Photo by Andrew Lichtenstein/Corbis via Getty Images) As painful and disturbing it was to watch George Floyd’s final moments and hear his final words of “I can’t breathe,” his murder sparked a historic movement that will hopefully be felt for generations to come. Now that many have been forced to do some soul searching and reflecting, former New York City Police Department spokesman, Michael DeBonis looked back on the 2014 death of Eric Garner at the hands of NYPD and admitted what we already knew, they kil...
