Kaduna court remands 75-year-old man over ‘sexual assault’ on minor

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered that a 75-year-old man, Umar Isah, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old boy. The police charged Isah who resides in Kingshasha Road, Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna with unnatural offence. The Magistrate, Hajara Dauda, who did not take the plea of Isah, held that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit. Dauda directed the police to forward the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. She adjourned the case until July 13, for further mention. Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Sunday Baba, told the court that Isah committed the offence on July 4 at 1p.m., at his residence. Court remands ‘student cultists’ for assaulting teachers

An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of three students of Ifeoluwa Co-Educational Grammar School in Ilesa Correctional Centre for allegedly assaulting teachers and students of the school. The defendants are: Adeniyi Timileyin, 18; Tajudeen Akinlolu, 20 and Waheed Abbas, 19, according to newsmen. The students, however, pleaded not guilty to the seven-count charge of conspiracy, assault, malicious damage, breach of peace, unlawful possession and threat to life. The Magistrate, Isola Omisade, ordered the remand of the defendants in the correctional centre due to the magnitude of the offences preferred against them. Man docked for ‘stealing’ chicken breeders

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Friday brought a 48-year-old security man, Peter Sanbe, before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing chicken breeders. Newsmen report that Sanbe of an undisclosed address, was docked on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and unlawful neglect of duty. According to the Prosecutor, Insp. Catherine Michael, Sanbe and others still at large, did conspire to commit the offence. Michael said that Sanbe, who was employed on Dec. 9, 2020 by NASTECH Farm, allegedly stole 84 chicken breeders on Dec. 30, 2020. #EndSARS: Eight arraigned in Ekiti over attack on police stations

Eight persons were on Friday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged attacks on police stations and stealing during the recent #EndSARS protests. The defendants are Olatayo Abiodun, 25; Olaoye Toyin, 23; Fasoroti Ifedayo, 25; Ojo Idowu, 18; Adetayo Damola, 20; Owolabi Oluwaseun, 21; Ajewole Ojo, 21, and Moses Ifeanyi, 20. They are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy to commit felony, willful damage, arson and stealing. The defendants were those arrested in connection with the widespread national protests against police brutality which were later hijacked by hoodlums. Mechanic in court allegedly ‘causing’ death of 4-year old girl

A 27-year-old mechanic, Friday Ogbu, who allegedly drove recklessly, causing the death of a four-year-old girl, on Thursday appeared in Chief Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada, FCT. The police charged Ogbu is charged with dangerous driving and manslaughter. The Prosecution Counsel, Mayowa Adefioye, told the court that the defendant drove his Toyota Camry with registration Number BWA779HK on the Tunga-maji Anagada expressway and knocked down three pedestrians on Dec. 25. He said that as a result of the accident, three children sustained different degrees of injuries and on arrival at Lucas Hospital Madalla, one of them was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty. Court remands man for allegedly raping seven-year-old

A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of a 55-year-old man, Abdullahi Haladu, at Goron Dutse Correctional Centre for allegedly raping 7-year-old girl. The defendant, who lives at Unguwar Mahauta Gani Village, Kano, is facing a one-count charge of rape, contrary to Section 283 of the penal code. The Prosecutor, ASP Badamasi Gawuna, told the court that Isa Uba of the same address reported the case at Sumaila Police Division, Kano, on June 29. He alleged that on the same date at about 8p.m, the defendant deceived and lured the child into his room situated at Unguwar Mahauta and raped her.
