According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool and Chelsea have joined a host of suitors in the race for Reading winger Michael Olise, and they are both currently running the rule over the youngster. Leeds United, Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers were all linked with the teenager during the summer transfer window, but none made a concrete move for his signature and he will remain at the English Championship club until at least January. Olise came through the youth systems at Chelsea and Manchester City, and he could be edging closer to a return to the top-flight having caught the eyes of the bigwigs. The France under-18 international is one of the reasons why Reading are currently topping the Championship table after nine games, and whether he can help them with a promotion push remains to be seen wi...
The transfer window saw some very big signings arrive in the Premier League. Whilst some have yet to settle in England, let’s take a look at those who have hit the ground running. There is no doubt that the signing of the Columbian superstar from Real Madrid was a huge coup for Everton. The 29-year-old had fallen out of favour at Real Madrid so he decided to link up with Ancelotti for the third time in his career. The signing was met with both excitement and scepticism by the footballing world. His talent was obvious but could he make it in the Premier League? Well, James Rodriguez has answered that one quite clearly. The midfielder has experienced an incredible start at Everton, scoring 3 and assisting 4 in 7 games. His influence spreads further than just some goals, as he has propelled E...
Kylian Mbappe scored from the penalty spot as Paris Saint-Germain eased to their seventh straight Ligue 1 win on Saturday, beating Nantes 3-0 away to move provisionally three points clear at the top of the table. All the goals came in the second half at the Stade de la Beaujoire, with Ander Herrera opening the scoring two minutes after the restart and Mbappe converting a 65th-minute spot-kick before Pablo Sarabia secured the points late on. PSG have now taken maximum points since starting the season with back-to-back defeats and the reigning champions are three clear of Lille and Rennes at the summit. Lille, who are unbeaten, can rejoin the club from the capital at the top if they beat Lyon on Sunday. Rennes beat Brest 2-1 on Saturday. “I am very happy. We made lots of changes because we f...
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was recently criticised by Red Bull Salzburg manager Jesse Marsch for doubting Christian Pulisic’s ability. Apparently, the two managers spoke about the American winger in the past and Lampard claims that Jesse Marsch has misunderstood his comments regarding Pulisic. The Chelsea boss added that he has always rated Pulisic highly and he has never doubted his ability because of his nationality. Lampard said to Sky Sports: “I did read the comments and I was surprised that he had managed to read my mind as well as he thought he did. “He has recounted the conversation wrong and I have to put it correct. It was a game against Salzburg in pre-season and Christian scored two goals. Jesse came up to me and we spoke about Christian. He said he was a talented player...
Getty Images Manchester United fullback Luke Shaw is set for an England recall next week. Shaw hasn’t been included in a Three Lions squad since September 2018. And despite emerging as a regular at Old Trafford during that time, he has struggled to persuade Gareth Southgate that he should be England’s first choice. But Southgate was much criticised for using Kieran Trippier at left wing-back last month, although he also handed Arsenal teenager Bukayo Saka his bow in the same position. Now Shaw, reports the Daily Star, will join Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell – back fit and Southgate’s first choice – in the squad for the international friendly with the Republic of Ireland and UEFA Nations League clashes with Belgium and Iceland, when it’s announced on Thursday. Shaw has won just eight caps s...
Chelsea have won just two Premier League games in 2020-21 out of six matches, drawing three and losing once, and they will be keen to pick up their third league victory tomorrow when they visit Turf Moor to clash with Burnley. The Blues secured a 4-0 win over FC Krasnodar in their second Champions League group game on Wednesday, and will fancy their chances of another victory against Sean Dyche’s men. The Clarets came close to holding Tottenham Hotspur to a draw on Monday, but a 76th-minute header from Son Heung-Min helped the visitors pick up all three points. Burnley are without a victory in five Premier League games, drawing once and losing the other four, and they will be keen to get something against Chelsea. With a takeover on the horizon, Dyche and his players could be in the mood t...
Chelsea return to Champions League action this evening with a trip to Russia to face Krasnodar, and they will be keen to pick up all three points following last week’s goalless draw with Sevilla. [embedded content] The hosts will also be looking to secure a win after drawing with Rennes last week, and while Frank Lampard’s side are favourites, the Blues can’t afford to belittle the Russians. The top spot in Group E of the Champions League is expected to be between them and Sevilla, but failure to win tonight could come at a price going forward in the competition. Chelsea head into the game on the back of another goalless draw at the weekend against Manchester United, but they will fancy their chances of earning victory tonight despite just a win in their last six games across all competiti...
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard believes that he is judged differently from the other managers in the Premier League. Asked if he feels he is judged differently, Lampard said to Independent: “I think possibly, yes; I think when I got this job a lot of people were questioning me getting the job. “A lot of people told me ‘are you sure you want to take it’ because of maybe opinion. And I think when sometimes people can be very quick to form opinions straight away, for whatever reason, and being a young English manager with one year at Derby some of that I understood. “But at the same time I think sometimes we just have to judge people on face value, like we do judge any manager; it doesn’t matter where you’re from, I think all managers should be judged the same.” The former England internationa...
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has surprisingly hinted that he mismanaged Paul Pogba, particularly at the start of this season. The French midfielder was a shadow of himself when the league began but was handed minutes nonetheless and so he continued to struggle. In fairness, United were performing poorly overall so Pogba wasn’t the only one who looked out of sorts. However, Solskjaer would soon exclude him from the starting XI and use him as an impact substitute, which he did remarkably well. Pogba’s lack of form was put down to a lack of a pre-season but perhaps fans have been a little dismissive that he also had to recover from Covid-19. According to the club’s official website, Solskjaer said: “You see, when you have got good players, it is a nice challenge and a nice deci...
Manchester: Manchester United and Chelsea played out a drab 0-0 draw in dire conditions at Old Trafford on Saturday. The rain lashed onto the pitch as neither side was able to breach the other’s defences. The draw meant that United have now failed to win any of their first three home games into a new league campaign for the first time since the 1972-73 season. Chelsea will perhaps return home happier with a point secured away from home but Frank Lampard’s expensively assembled attack have their work cut out to prove that they can indeed challenge for the title this season.
