‘I have to do what is good’: Chelsea star in limbo after manager’s latest comments

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has once again refused to offer Tammy Abraham any reassurances over his future. Despite scoring 12 goals in 30 appearances for the club this season, Abraham doesn’t appear to have impressed the German. Speaking ahead of the Blues’ trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday, Tuchel suggested that the 23-year-old doesn’t suit his preferred playing style. “I’m the coach for Chelsea and I have to do what is good and best for us,” said Tuchel. “Tammy had a bit of a rough time. “He started twice or three times and was twice substituted for tactical reasons at half-time. He could not have the impact he demands from himself and we wish from him.” Injuries have not helped Abraham’s cause, with an ankle problem forcing him onto the sidelines over the past few weeks. “We demand ...

Chelsea star angling to complete €50m move this summer

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is eager to return to Serie A this summer. The 29-year-old was linked with a return to Napoli last month following comments made by his agent, Joao Santos, on the Serie A club’s official radio station. Santos cranked things up a notch earlier today, telling the same outlet that the €50 million rated star is keen to go back to Italy. He cited Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan as possible destinations but believes that his client would prefer to rejoin Napoli. “Jorge wants to go back to Italy and Naples to win the Scudetto – he is a ball that wants to take off,” said Santos. “It will be important for him to do well at the European Championships and the World Cup with Italy. (Roberto) Mancini is making it even stronger.” SL View Jorginho still has two years left o...

Klopp, Nagelsmann and more: 5 managers who could replace Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich

Hansi Flick has done an exceptional job at Bayern Munich, winning the treble in his first season, having taken over from Niko Kovac in November 2019. This season, he has continued in a similar vein, sitting seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga with just seven games remaining. However, they have already been knocked out of the DFB Pokal and are up against it in the Champions League after losing the first leg of their quarter-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain. It now appears that Flick is ready to take on a new challenge, with Norwegian reporter Jan Aage Fjortoft claiming on Twitter that he is set to take over the German national team after the European Championships this summer. The 56-year-old previously worked as assistant manager for Die Mannschaft during their most succes...

‘Big game player’, ‘Top class’: Some Chelsea fans praise 22-year-old’s display vs Porto

A selection of Chelsea fans on Twitter heaped praise on Mason Mount following his impressive display against Porto in the Champions League last night. The Blues made the trip to Seville for the away leg of their quarter-final tie and secured a 2-0 triumph thanks to goals from Mason and Ben Chilwell. The game was not straightforward despite the scoreline, and the west London giants had to work hard for the victory with only three shots on target in 90 minutes. Mount opened the scoring for the Blues in the 32nd minute of the contest. He took control of Jorginho pass with a terrific turn to outwit Chancel Mbemba. The England international thereafter unleashed a first-time shot for the bottom left corner, which beat the diving goalkeeper. The Blues doubled their advantage five minutes from tim...

‘Pretty impressive’: Thomas Tuchel reacts to performance of 24-year-old Chelsea star

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was impressed with Ben Chilwell, who bagged the second goal in the club’s 2-0 Champions League triumph over Porto last night. The Blues faced Porto in Seville during the first leg of the quarter-final tie, and they managed to find the back of the net with two of their three shots on target. Mount opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with a terrific turn and first-time shot to beat the goalkeeper. Chilwell bagged the club’s second five minutes from time. The 24-year-old pounced on a poor first touch from Jesus Corona before rounding the goalkeeper to register his maiden Champions League goal. The 2-0 win has handed the Blues an excellent chance of making it to the last four of the competition, and Tuchel was delighted for Chilwell. He told Chelseafc.com: “I wa...

According to CalcioMercato, the Blues are ‘ready to take concrete action’ by bidding more than £86 million for the Belgian international. Lukaku has enjoyed a hugely prolific spell with Inter, bagging 61 goals in 87 appearances for the Serie A club. SL View Inter are believed to want more than £100m for Lukaku – a figure that his suitors may consider too expensive. Manchester City and Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in the Belgian following his stunning performances for Inter this term. The Italian club are reluctant to part company with Lukaku, but they need to raise funds to make up a significant financial deficit caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The 28-year-old previously had a...

The Blues fell to an embarrassing 5-2 defeat to West Brom on Saturday, with Thiago Silva sent-off for a second bookable offence in the 29th minute. It was then reported on Sunday that defender Rudiger and goalkeeper Kepa had fallen out in training, leading to a bust-up. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has now spoken about the incident, claiming neither player will be punished. “It had nothing to do with defeat,” Tuchel explained, as quoted by the Evening Standard on Tuesday.  “It was an incident in training and got heated up with Toni and Kepa. Strong XI for Reds, Man City defender doubtful, Chelsea midfielder out

The Champions League is back with a bang this week as the first leg of the quarter-final ties are played across Europe. The action gets underway on Tuesday, with two Premier League teams hoping to boost their chances of progressing to the last four. Despite still missing some key players, Liverpool will field a strong starting XI for their visit to Real Madrid. Manchester City have nearly a full squad to choose from for their game against Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium. Defender Nathan Ake is City’s only major doubt as they get set to face the Bundesliga outfit. Chelsea will be without midfielder N’Golo Kante for their trip to play Porto at t...

Everton blow late lead against Crystal Palace

Everton’s hopes of a top-four finish in the Premier League were dented by Michy Batshuayi’s 86th minute equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw for Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Monday. The Toffees were made to rue a string of missed chances either side of James Rodriguez’s opener as they only narrowly closed the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea to four points. Rodriguez’s return from injury for the first time since Everton ended a two-decade wait to beat Liverpool away in the Merseyside derby in February sparked a far more enterprising performance from Carlo Ancelotti’s men. Vicente Guaita was forced into fine saves from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison in a dominant first-half display from the home side. Rodriguez finally broke the deadlock 11 minutes into the second-half when he fired hom...
