Chase & Status Announce 6th Album, Release Drum & Bass Single “Mixed Emotions”
If you were lucky enough to attend a random rave thrown by Chase & Status‘ in late 2021, you might just be featured on the cover of their upcoming album. The legendary U.K. duo’s new album, What Came Before, appears to be borne out of a desire to capture the essence of rave energy and emotion in its rawest forms. Drum & bass has found a home on the sun-kissed dancefloors of Ibiza. The White Isle has long been lionized as the spiritual home of house music, but that axiom is coming unglued thanks to Louder Ibiza. The influential drum & bass brand has announced a blue-ribbon residency featuring some of the genre’s most iconic artists, like Andy C and Sub Focus, among others. DJ Fresh Revives Beloved Early 2000’s Drum & Bass Imprint, Breakbeat Kaos
Breakbeat Kaos, one of the industry’s most beloved record labels for drum & bass music, has relaunched at the direction of DJ Fresh. In the early 2010s, Fresh achieved world recognition for hit tracks like “Gold Dust” and then—alongside Rita Ora—became the world’s first artist to top the U.K. charts with a drum & bass single, according to UKF. He did the same with 2011’s timeless dubstep song “Louder.” As his career boomed, releases on Breakbeat Kaos began to wind down. By that point, however, the imprint had already released a slew of early career singles from future household names like NERO and Chase & Status. After 14 incredible years rocking stages with legendary drum & bass duo Chase & Status, frontman MC Rage is leaving the project. The group shared the news in a heartfelt Instagram post. “After an incredible 14 years of touring the globe together, from nightclubs to festivals; our Brother MC Rage is moving on to pursue solo ventures,” the announcement reads. Chase & Status to Appear on Massive Metallica Cover Album
Legendary electronic music tandem Chase & Status have revealed a new remix for Metallica, who recently announced a special compilation covering songs from their seminal 1991 self-titled album. Chase & Status revealed that the metal icons reached out to them and gave them a choice of which track to rework from the LP, better known as The Black Album, to celebrate its 30th anniversary. They chose the raucous “Wherever I May Roam” and tapped drill-grime rapper Backroad Gee to contribute vocals.
