The sales numbers include the original and popularized versions of songs covered on the show (such as Elvis Presley’s rendition of the Mac Davis-penned “In the Ghetto” and Johnny Lee’s “Lookin’ for Love,” which were performed on the CMA Awards by R...

Coming in at No. 2 on the midweek chart is Confetti, just 2,200 combined sales behind Disco. It’s the most streamed album so far, and the biggest-selling title on CD, the OCC reports. Little Mix, winners of ITV’s The X Factor back in 2011, have hit the Top 5 with all their first five albums, with Glory Days from 2016 going to No. 1. Completing an all-new top three is Shirley Bassey’s farewell set I Owe It All To You (Decca) at No. 3. It’s shaping up to be the veteran Welsh singer’s highest-charting album in more than 40 years. Another Welsh artist is aiming for a Top 10 debut, Aled Jones. The classical singer’s Blessings (BMG) is new at No. 8, while Birmingham rapper Dutchavelli (real name Stephan Allen) is one place behind with his debut mixtape Dutch From The 5th (Parlophone). Over on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, “Positions” enters a second week at No. 1, while two more tracks from the LP crack the Top 40. Grande’s “34+35” is new at No. 9 and “Motive” featuring Doja Cat is at No. 16, extending her list of U.K. Top 40 hits to 28. She’s the fourth artist to achieve the chart double in 2020 (Drake, Eminem and Stormzy are the others), and the first female artist to score consecutive chart double wins in almost ten years (Rihanna did it in 2011). Thanks to Grande’s chart domination, Sam Smith misses out on top spot with Love Goes (Capitol), new at No. 2 on the albums survey. It’s the end of a golden streak for Smith, whose previous two albums hit the summit of the national albums survey. Veteran singer Cliff Richard rounds out an all-new Top 3 with Music… The Air...
The Makarrata Project features the band collaborating with Indigenous artists and First Nations people including Jessica Mauboy, Kev Carmody, Troy Cassar-Daley, Dan Sultan and Frank Yamma, and includes the previously-released numbered, “Gadigal Land.” It’s a bittersweet result for the politically-charged rock band. Bass player Bones Hillman, who joined the band in 1987 and has been with them ever since, died Saturday (Nov. 7) after a battle with cancer. With Peter Garrett and Co. claiming top spot, Ariana Grande has to settle for a No. 2 bow with Positions, though its title track enters a second week at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart and is one of eight tracks from the LP to impact this week’s Top 50. The U.S. pop star previously ruled the albums survey with My Everything (September 2014)...

The highest new entries on the chart blast belong to Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue, with “Say Something” new at No. 16 and “Magic” at No. 19. It bests the 45-week runs of five other hits (most recently Harry Styles’ “Adore You”). The Weeknd concurrently debuts his newest AC charted title, as “In Your Eyes” opens at No. 29. Originally released, with “Lights,” on his album After Hours, the song is being promoted to AC radio via a version featuring Kenny G. As for the sax star, Kenny G adds his 27th AC entry, dating to his first, “Songbird,” in 1987. That song became his first of 10 top 10s on the tally, a sum that includes two No. 1s, both in 1993: “Forever in Love” and “By the Time This Night Is Over,” the latter fea...
For Combs, leading his Hot 100 haul, “Forever After All” debuts at No. 2, the highest entrance ever for a song that has also appeared on Hot Country Songs by a solo male; the track concurrently opens atop the Hot Country Songs chart. The song is from the deluxe reissue of his LP What You See Is What You Get, which surges back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 109,000 equivalent album units, up 399 percent, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. OK, so it probably wasn’t the seal-breaking No. 1 most hip-hop fans would’ve chosen: a pop-leaning, suburbs-courting, classic rock-sampling crossover anthem from the artist born Robert Van Winkle, a white MC of controversial credibility. Still, it was a crucial chart first in rap history: the culmination of a number of smaller breakthroughs over the previous decade, and the start of many historic hip-hop No. 1s to come. Here are 15 more of the most important rap firsts in Billboard Hot 100 history: 1. First rap Hot 100 hit: Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight” (No. 36, 1/12/80) The first single to introduce hip-hop to the mainstream peaked in the Hot 100’s top 40 at the outset of the 1980s, portending the slowly building crossover influence the genr...
Positions is the most streamed album of the week so far, the OCC reports, and if it wins the race, it’ll become Grande’s fourth consecutive U.K. No. 1 album following Dangerous Woman (2016), Sweetener (2018), and Thank U, Next (2019). Smith’s previous two albums In The Lonely Hour (2014) and The Thrill Of It All (2017) both debuted at the summit. Coming in at No. 3 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart Update is Cliff Richard’s 41st studio album Music… The Air That I Breathe (East West/Rhino). It’s the best-selling album in the first half of the week, and Breathe should become the veteran singer’s 46th Top 10 album. Meanwhile, Bruce Springsteen’s latest album Letter to You (Columbia) dips 1-4, while The Style Council’s career retrospective Long Hot Summers (Polydor/UMC) starts at No. 5. ...
