Los Legendarios, Wisin & Myke Towers’ ‘Mi Niña’ Hits No. 1 on Latin Airplay Chart: ‘We Were Playing For the Same Team’

It’s the Puerto Rican producers’ first leader as featured artists. The Puerto Rican partnership between producers Los Legendarios with Wisin and Myke Towers flourishes as their collaboration “Mi Niña” jumps 3-1 on the Latin Airplay chart dated Jan. 16. Los Legendarios comprises Marcos Ramírez and Víctor R. Torres, who launched their career as producers in 2008. “Mi Niña” earns them their first No. 1 — and first entry — on any Billboard chart as credited artists. As producers, however, they have scored previous hits. “As producers, this is our seventh No. 1 but as featured artists, this is our first,” Ramirez tells Biilboard.  “We are very excited to see that validation from fans. Five Burning Questions: Early Thoughts About the 2021 Hot 100

1. For the second year in a row, Justin Bieber is leading off early with a new single — “Anyone” debuts at No. 6 on the Hot 100 this week. Based on the song and its initial chart bow, what kind of things are you expecting from Bieber in 2021? Rania Aniftos: Wholesome Married Bieber will surely continue writing love songs about Hailey in 2021. On a deeper level, as we’ve seen from “Holy,” “Lonely” and his uplifting Instagram posts, JB is in a period of growth lately, which I think will translate into a more reflective, faith-driven album than we’ve seen from him in the past. Katie Atkinson: It seems like Bieber can’t miss lately, with “Holy” (featuring Chance the Rapper) also holding strong at No. 4, and his Shawn Mendes duet R...

Barry Gibb Set for U.K. No. 1 With ‘Greenfields’

The Bee Gees, who were inducted into the Rock Hall back in 1997, have ruled the U.K. albums chart just once, with 1979’s Spirits Having Flown, though the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, which features several contributions from the vocal group, led the national chart for a whopping 18 weeks. As fans remember David Bowie on what would have been 74th birthday and the fifth anniversary of his passing, the iconic singer’s Legacy (Parlophone) collection vaults 31-10. Also impacting the chart blast is Swedish post-punk group Viagra Boys, whose second studio album Welfare Jazz (Year0001) bows at No. 25, while Gold career retrospectives from British rockers Ian Hunter & Mott The Hoople (No. 18 via Crimson) and “Final Countdown” singers Europe (No. 34 also via Crimson) are eying Top 40 de...

Taylor Swift’s Evermore Returns to U.K. Chart Summit

Harry Styles’ Fine Line (Columbia) was one of the U.K.’s most popular albums in 2020, though it has never reached No. 1 on the weekly chart. It’s inching closer to breaking the spell, rising 10-2, a new high, following the release of buzzy new video for “Treat People With Kindness.” Lewis Capaldi’s Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent (EMI), the U.K.’s biggest album for two years straight, according to the OCC, returns to the Top 10 in its 86th week on the survey. This week, Divinely Uninspired rises 12-6. Meanwhile, Sydney-based, Los Angeles-based hip-hop artist The Kid LAROI enjoys his first Top 10 as debut mixtape F**k Love (Columbia) lifts 22-10. The rising, ARIA Award-nominated artist gets a boost from his hit “Without You,” up 26-7 on the national single...

Swift’s presence is felt up and down the current chart, which also features Folklore (down 4-7), 1989 (up 48-31) and Lover (up 39-34). In a result that mirrors the top tier of the U.K. tally, Evermore is followed on the ARIA Chart by Harry Styles’ Fine Line, which improves 5-2 for its 52nd week in the Top Ten. Fine Line, the current leader on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart, gets a push thanks to the viral video for “Treat People with Kindness” featuring Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Meanwhile, The Kid LAROI is back in the high life as the deluxe edition of his debut mixtape F*ck Love (Savage) rises 6-3, equaling its chart peak. It’s a third time at No. 3 for F*ck Love. The rising, Australian-born and raised rapper earned three nominations at the 2020 ARIA Awards. In a rare sight, no new ...

Harry Styles’ ‘Fine Line’ Leads 2020’s Record-Breaking Year for Vinyl Album Sales in U.S.

Strikingly, overall album sales, across all formats (CD, digital album, vinyl LP, cassettes, etc.) had their smallest yearly decrease since 2015. In 2020, total album sales fell just 9.2% to 102.4 million – the first time yearly sales dropped by less than 10% since 2015, when volume fell by just 6% (aided by huge sales for Adele’s 25 album). Overall album sales have been falling steadily since 2012, as consumers increasingly turn to streaming services to enjoy music. Vinyl LP sales accounted for over a quarter of all album sales in 2020: 26.9% (27.54 million of 102.4 million). Notably, vinyl LP sales comprised a robust 40.5% of all physical albums sold in the U.S. in 2020 (27.54 million of 68.01 million). Both sums represent MRC Data-era records for vinyl’s share of the album sales market....

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City’ Returns to Top 10 on Album Sales Chart After Eight Years

Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The Album Sales chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Pure album sales were the measurement solely utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram. Good Kid has sold particularly well in recent weeks on vinyl at independent record stores, as well as Target and Walmar...
