One factor responsible for the impactful implementation of the Social Investment Programmes of the Buhari administration over the years is the realization that you can’t reach Nigerians if you don’t have a plan for the grassroots, according to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN. New Project Will Teach the Art of DJing to the Homeless in Glasgow

A new bid to change the lives of Glasgow’s homeless population seeks to teach the underprivileged how to DJ. Started by electronic music-based social enterprise Turn The Tables, the Homelessness DJ Project already has the support of legendary techno duo Slam and Glasgow’s DJ Nightwave, among many others.  Partnering with Groove City Radio and The Sub Club, the Homelessness DJ Project will work alongside third party organizations and charities to host workshops for people facing homelessness to learn the technical and artistic skills of DJing.  Those workshops will be hosted in a new state-of-the-art studio in Granton, with multiple rooms and socially distant areas both indoors and outdoors. Indian Electronic Music Artists Support COVID-19 Relief With Compilation Album, “SOS”

The COVID-19 crisis in India has been dominating headlines as of late, with total cases in the country skyrocketing past 19 million Sunday morning. Washington denies Iran state media report saying prisoner swap agreed

The United States on Sunday denied a report by Iran’s state television that the arch-foes had reached a prisoner swap deal in exchange for the release of $7 billion frozen Iranian oil funds under U.S. sanctions in other countries. Iranian state television said on Sunday that Tehran would free four Americans accused of spying in exchange for four Iranians held in the United States and the release of $7 billion in frozen Iranian funds. The U.S. government denied that an exchange was in the works. The state TV, quoting an unnamed Iranian official, also said British-Iranian national Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe would be released once Britain had paid off a debt on military equipment owed to Tehran. UK DJ Paul Geddes, of the duo Geddes & Gioia, has completed an impressive marathon performance to raise thousands in donations to support children impacted by cerebral palsy. From 5AM to 1AM the following morning, Geddes delivered 20 hours of nonstop music. Amid the pandemic, he had made a habit of hosting six-hour performances via livestream, and his latest idea was an evolution of that concept. Despite the longer set duration, Geddes wasn’t short on energy throughout the run. The post-performance measurements showed that he had logged 84,000 steps in the process and consequently shed nearly 6lbs, according to Wirral Globe. Yoshiki, the leader of heavy metal legends X Japan, has announced that he will provide an annual $100,000 grant to MusiCares for mental health initiatives. The influential multi-instrumentalist has been one of rock’s most charitably musicians, even earning a Medal of Honor by the Government of Japan earlier this month. Although Alex Trebek has sadly passed, his charitable spirit remains. The family of the late Jeopardy! host has donated his entire quiz show wardrobe to an organization called The Doe Fund that helps formerly homeless men find good jobs. At the suggestion of his son Matthew Trebek, and in conjunction with his former Jeopardy! co-workers, Trebek’s sprawling collection of suits, dress shirts, neckties, and more are now being used by men who need appropriate attire for job interviews. Lagos shuts airport bridge indefinitely

The Lagos State Government on Sunday announced the closure of the Airport Bridge at Toyota on Oshodi/Isolo Expressway indefinitely. This follows the inferno that recently occurred on the Apapa Oshodi Expressway as a result of a PMS loaded tanker exploding in a fireball from collision with another truck, with the structure of the Airport Bridge at Toyota on Oshodi/Isolo Expressway has been affected. “The bridge therefore has to be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic movement to enable the State Government conduct structural engineering tests on the bridge,” said Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde.
