Report: Nottingham Forest want to sign 20-year-old Tottenham ace on season-long loan

Nottingham Forest want to sign Tottenham youngster Jack Clarke on loan this summer according to a report from The Athletic. Exciting times may well lie ahead for Forest. Dane Murphy has just taken over as the new CEO and it will arguably be one of the toughest jobs of his life. Albeit an incredibly exciting challenge. Nottingham Forest are a huge club. Two time European Cup winners, the Reds are a club that deserves Premier League football. Or the fans do at least. And it seems as though Chris Hughton has an exciting plan in place to help get Forest back to where they belong. Turkish side Trabzonspor in love with Ademola Lookman

Trabzonspor are interested in adding Nigerian wing wizard, Ademola Lookman, to their playing personnel and have registered their interest with the player’s parent club RB Leipzig, says Turkish publications Fotomac. Lookman is not short of suitors after impressing last term during a loan spell in the Premier League with Fulham. The former Everton ace scored four goals and added another four assists in 34 matches for the Cottagers. It was not enough, though, to help the London-based side avoid relegation to the Championship just a year after celebrating a long-overdue promotion. Fulham paid €2 million to Leipzig last summer before they could get the Super Eagles hopeful, and Trabzonspor may need to cough up an equivalent sum to acquire the services of the 23-year-old. A couple of years ago, ...

West Brom release 18 players including Branislav Ivanovic, Kieran Gibbs, Hal Robson-Kanu

West Brom have released 18 players as they prepare for life in the Championship. The Baggies wave goodbye to senior stars Charlie Austin, Branislav Ivanovic, Kieran Gibbs and Hal Robson-Kanu. Sam Allardyce could not save the Midlands side from the drop – the first Premier League relegation in his managerial career – after taking over from Slaven Bilic. West Brom have since parted company with the Dudley native. The 19th placed Baggies ended up 13 points from safety as they dropped back down to the Championship at the first time of asking. And their relegation has seen nearly 20 players culled from their squad. Joining well known quartet Austin, Gibbs, Ivanovic and Robson-Kanu in departing the Hawthorns, are Zak Brown, Nicholas Clayton-Phillips, Chiekh Diaby, Tyrese Dyce and Samuel French. ...

Nuno Espírito Santo to leave Wolves after four years

Nuno Espírito Santo will leave Wolverhampton Wanderers by mutual consent after the club’s final Premier League game of the season against Manchester United on Sunday. The 47-year-old has been in charge at Molineux for four years, arriving in 2017. In a statement on the club’s official website, Espírito Santo said: “Since the first day we arrived at Compton, our ambition was to make a positive change and push this football club forward, and I am proud to say that we did that every single day. “We achieved our goals, we did it with passion and we did it together. “Sunday will be a very emotional day, but I am so happy that the fans will be back in Molineux and we can share one last special moment together, as one pack.” Under the Portuguese, Wolves were promoted from the Championship as cham...

Former United and Liverpool legends back petition to save their clubs

The call by former Premier League stars for better regulation in English football will be music to the ears of fans across the country. Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards are amongst the ex-players who are urging the UK government to appoint an independent regulator. They are calling on fans to sign a petition which will force the government to debate the matter if more than 100,000 signatures are collected. The petition is already well on its way to hitting the target as people across football throw their weight behind the idea. The recent European Super League proposal highlighted the disdain with which some elements of football view the current picture. Many people within the sport believe that the appointment of a regulatory body would help to represent the interests of t...

Arsenal, Chelsea and co beware, new EPL broadcast deal needs a rethink

“The current media rights deal will preserve the status quo of an unbalanced, unsustainable and unfair financial distribution model across English football which continues to cause serious financial issues throughout the football pyramid, while continuing to distort competition between clubs and threaten the long-term viability of EFL competitions and clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two.” The EFL’s recent statement about the Premier League’s new domestic television deal certainly didn’t pull any punches. The English top-flight has been given the green light to roll over its £4.8 billion arrangement with broadcasters for another three years from 2022, on the condition it gives an extra £100 million to support football in England. The money will be distributed across differe...

West Ham and Newcastle hopes boosted as Toffees expert says club won’t sign 29-goal star

West Ham United and Newcastle United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong. The 24-year-old bagged a second successive hat-trick for Rovers as they ran out 5-2 winners against Birmingham City on Saturday. The ex-Newcastle United forward took his tally to 29 goals in all competitions in what has been an underwhelming campaign for Tony Mowbray’s team. Speaking on BBC Radio Lancashire after the game, the Rovers manager indicated that the club would be open to selling Armstrong this summer. “For Adam’s sake let’s hope the phone rings and someone offers us a ridiculous amount of money,” he said. “We shake him by the hand and we say ‘go and bang in loads of goals in the Premier League.” “For Adam’s sake let’s hope the phone rings and someone offers ...

Derby send Sheffield Wednesday down, Hammers target bags second successive treble

Derby County narrowly avoided relegation on a dramatic final day in the Championship. The Rams twice came from behind to secure a 3-3 draw against Sheffield Wednesday at Pride Park to escape the drop at the expense of their opponents. Martyn Waghorn (2) and Patrick Roberts were on target for Derby, while Sam Hutchinson, Callum Paterson and Julian Borner replied for the visitors. Rotherham United were on course to survive after Lewis Wing put them ahead at Cardiff City, but Marlon Pack’s late strike sent them tumbling back into League One after just one season. Wycombe Wanderers also made an immediate return to the third tier despite recording a 3-0 victory at Middlesbrough – Fred Onyedinma, Garath McCleary and Jason McCarthy got the goals. At the other end of the table, the line-up for the...

Norwich City seal Championship title finally at Carrow Road

Norwich City have clinched the Championship title on Saturday after coming from behind to defeat Reading 4-1 at Carrow Road. Daniel Farke’s dominant side had already sealed an immediate return to the Premier League with five matches to spare on April 17 and are now celebrating winning the second division for the second time in only three seasons. The trophy was guaranteed on Saturday as Kieran Dowell’s brace, a Xavi Quintilla free-kick and Teemu Pukki’s 26th goal of the campaign saw Norwich fight back from Josh Laurent’s early header to thump out-of-form Reading. The Canaries would have actually wrapped up the title on Saturday regardless of their own result after fellow promoted side Watford were beaten 2-0 at play-off hopefuls Brentford. At the other end of the table, the relegation batt...

West Ham and Newcastle must move now as manager hints target could be sold

West Ham United and Newcastle United have been given further encouragement in their pursuit of Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong. The 24-year-old has been in fine form for Rovers this season, bagging 22 goals in 40 appearances during the current campaign. He has just over a year left on his current contract, and Rovers manager Tony Mowbray hinted earlier this month that he could be sold this summer. Mowbray has now confirmed that the club could be forced into selling their top assets to fund incoming transfers this summer. With playmaker Bradley Dack currently on the sidelines, Mowbray’s only other hope of raising sizeable funds is by selling Armstrong. In an interview with Lancashire Telegraph, Mowbray outlined his plans for the upcoming transfer window. “We will have to see what th...

Tammy Abraham to ‘make Chelsea transfer request’

Tammy Abraham is leaning towards seeking a move from Chelsea this summer. Abraham has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with Aston Villa among the clubs to be credited with an interest in his services. The striker had a prolific loan spell at Villa in the 2018/19 season, scoring 26 goals to help fire Smith’s side to promotion from the Championship, and remains well thought of in the Midlands. The Guardian says Abraham has left out of the squad altogether as Chelsea beat Manchester City at Wembley in Saturday’s FA Cup semifinal and the forward is now ‘considering seeking a fresh opportunity. West Brom thrash Southampton to boost survival hopes

West Bromwich Albion improved their slender hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League as they survived VAR controversy to beat Southampton 3-0 on Monday. Sam Allardyce’s side saw Mbaye Diagne’s goal questionably ruled out by VAR early in the first half at the Hawthorns. But they recovered from that blow to sweep into a two-goal lead by half-time thanks to Matheus Pereira’s penalty and a Matt Phillips strike. Callum Robinson sealed West Brom’s second successive win after the interval as the Baggies built on their stunning 5-2 victory at Chelsea. Second bottom Albion move within eight points of fourth bottom Newcastle with seven games left. The Baggies have scored eight goals in their last two games, two more than they had netted in their previous 11 combined, but their unexpected...
